Junebug has been adopted!

The first time you come home to see her waggle butt flailing in excitement, you'll know you made the right choice. Junebug is the dog everyone is looking for. She is playful, sweet, smart, trainable, and very attuned to her humans. A bit shy and submissive at first (more so with men), she quickly warms up to anyone who gives her treats and is kind and loving to her.

While Australian Shepherds may be known for being excessively high energy, Junebug is medium energy. She will never say no to a walk or being outside, but you won't come home to a torn up house or half-crazed dog if a day slips by without exercise. That said, she loves to walk and with leash training, would make a great running partner. She also enjoys playing fetch with her ball, gentle games of tug-of-war, and playing chase or romping around with you. She also was introduced to swimming and totally fell in love with it! If you are a hiker, you will have a trusty and enthusiastic companion as well!

When you are ready to settle down for the day with a book or TV show, Junebug will be right there eagerly awaiting her invitation to join you on the couch. You may just find a snout nuzzling under your hand for pets or a dog in full corpse pose waiting for a belly rub.
She is crate trained and slept through the night without problems in her crate. However, her preference, both at night and during the day, is to free roam. She has never had any issues free roaming and is respectful of bed space. Completely potty trained, she sleeps through the night without problem and has been good for 8-10 hours at a time during the day.

Junebug is a grazer when it comes to her kibble, however, she has high value food items that make her very trainable including treats, peanut butter, cheese, watermelon, and apples. Her previous foster had noted that she food/object possessive but that also could have been responding to the other dog in the house who was very possessive. We have not seen this behavior since she settled in and have found it easy to take items from her, food or toys, when we need to.

She listens incredibly well and will come and sit when called. Tricks are a breeze with her and already has sit, stay, wait, down, spin, come, and touch in her repertoire. Being a working breed, she thrives when given a task or when she gets to learn things that make her humans happy and appreciate her.

She's been great with other people and kids, and often sits or flops on her back when they approach her. We took her to an outdoor party with dozens of kids running around, and she laid down and watched calmly, much more interested in the other dog there than any kids.

With other animals (in the household or in the community) she is extremely excited to meet them and become friends so can come off as too much. We have worked with her on desensitization to our cat as well as to dogs barking outside or passing on walks. She has come along ways with being calmer around cats and being non-reactive to outside noises, however, she will need to continue to train with approaching other dogs outside. Her size and energy level make her great for apartment living, but she will need to continue desensitization training for reacting to other dogs or loud noises around her home.

Junebug is just a wholesome, genuine, fun-loving, good-vibes pooch without an ounce of mischief to her name. Whoever welcomes her into their home is getting a truly outstanding dog.
