Congrats to Evie on her adoption October 29, 2020!

Hi, I'm Evie! I sleep in my crate overnight, even though I would love to snuggle with my foster mom in her bed. I'm so excited when she wakes up and takes me outside, my tail just can't stop wagging! After that, I wait patiently while my foster mom gets ready. After that, we head out for a longer walk with my foster brother around the neighborhood.

Since my foster mom is working from home, I haven't had to be alone for too long. I'll lay around and nap for a bit during the day, but I've also been working on being crated while she's working to get me more used to being alone when things go back to "normal". If my foster mom does go out, I stay in my crate with some soft blankets and a yummy treat. I have some slight separation anxiety since I prefer if she is home, so I'll sometimes whimper until she's back, unless I'm very tired - in which case I just nap until she returns. I also can jump really well and sometimes end up places where I shouldn't be, like tables, especially if there's tasty food up there. I stay in my crate when unsupervised to stay out of trouble :).

My absolute FAVORITE part of the day is when I get to watch TV and snuggle on the couch at night with my foster mom. I like to think I've elevated the art form of dog/human snuggling. Just add some blankets and pillows, and I'll be snoozing away with my head on your lap in no time. My foster mom says she's impressed with how many ways I've found to snuggle on the couch: on her lap, on the back pillows of the couch, on my back with some nice belly rubs. I really just like being as comfy and close to my human as possible!

I haven't met too many new people in the time I've been in Wisconsin, but I can definitely be a nervous girl with strangers. I warmed up to my foster mom right away, but with others, it takes some slow introductions and lots of treats before I really trust them. I always do end up trusting them, but it takes time to get to know new friends! I've only made one younger human friend up here in Wisconsin, a 7-year-old who was nice enough to help dog sit me for a weekend. While I did warm up to her eventually, she was a bit unpredictable - I would be a lot more comfortable with older children in my forever home.

When I'm not napping, I love going on walks! I walk really well on my leash and don't pull if I have a soft harness on. Oh, and also as long as I don't see any squirrels - I don't trust those little things and will try to tell them what I think of them if I see any while outside. I'll go on a few walks of different lengths each day, but always at least 3-4 of them - I'd go on even more if offered the chance!

I'm still trying to figure out the best way to play with dog toys. I love chasing after them when foster mom throws them, but she keeps telling me I need to bring them back to her. Every time?! If she gives me enough encouragement I do, but I'm still working on bringing them back more consistently. I like digging in the toy box and playing with some toys on my own, but sometimes taking all of the toys out of the box is more fun than playing with them :).

Overall, I'd say I'm a pretty medium energy dog! I have energy to get out but spend a lot of the day sleeping in my comfy bed.

Right now, I'm living with a foster brother who's even smaller than me, if you can believe it! He's a chihuahua mix like me, but isn't quite as playful as I am. I keep trying to get him to play with me, but he rarely does. My foster mom says he's grumpy, but that I also need to listen to him when he says he doesn't want to play. I'd like a more playful sibling in my forever home if possible, or to be the only dog in the household, to be the center of attention.

I haven't met any cats so I'm not sure how I would react to them!

I'd like to think I'm a pretty laid-back dog overall. I've had a lot of changes recently in my life, which does make me nervous a lot of the time. Once I know I'm safe in my home and get used to the schedule, though, I get a lot more comfortable. Sometimes that takes a while! Oh, not to brag, but I also have the most beautiful eyes - one is blue and one is brown. I like to think that adds to my loving, cuddly personality!
