Updates

Say hello to this sweet girl named Everest! This young lady is a very happy, playful, social girl. She starts her day with a nice walk (as long as the temp isn't below zero!) then some playtime either with toys or her doggie friends. She will typically stay in her crate about 9 hours during the day while I'm at work. Then we do another longer walk when I get home from work and she'll spend the rest of the evening playing. Depending on how much exercise she gets, she may be more or less energetic at night. Then she will sleep up to 10 hours at night in her crate as well. She will occasionally bark in her crate for a couple minutes when she first goes in. If this happens, I give her a peanut butter stuffed Kong toy to chew on and turn on some music for her. Since she is not 100% with potty training, I do keep her crated whenever I leave the house.

Everest is incredibly social and absolutely loves meeting new dogs and people. She is very gentle and calm meeting both dogs and humans, typically just wagging her tail and sniffing a lot though she has been known to jump on people if she gets really excited. Still working on those puppy manners! The only time she's really barked at new people is sometimes when she's playing out in the yard and dogs/people walk by. Everest has not met children while with me. She loves to play tug of war with her puppy friends and chase in the yard is her favorite. Everest also lives with two cats right now and does okay with them - gets excited and overly playful with them but very friendly. Just not play that the cats appreciate. :)

Everest has a medium to high energy level. She is very eager to please and knows sit already - I'm thinking she'll be easy to teach more things as well! If she gets a longer walk or playtime, she will be able to settle in for naps and snuggles. If she hasn't had a good amount of physical activity, she normally needs some sort of mental stimulation to keep her busy. On cold days when she can't play outside as much, I've been using things like yak cheese chews and puzzle treat balls. Everest walks very well on leash with minimal pulling (though she is still an easily distracted puppy).

Overall, Everest is a very social, playful, and loving dog! She will be great for an owner of any experience level who is ready to put in a little time every day to get her some exercise or stimulation. Everest has tested positive for anaplasmosis (a tick borne disease) though has not shown any symptoms of this. She is on a proactive 3 week antibiotic course to make sure she doesn't develop symptoms of this in the future. Come meet Everest today!
