Elliot found his forever home on July 14!

Meet Elliott! This sweet dude recently made his way to Wisconsin from Louisiana and he is settling in well! He is a little timid at first but is so so so sweet. He has made a number of canine, feline and human friends and is gaining confidence daily. He loves his people and is a playful and affectionate guy. This handsome guy is ready to find his forever family to spoil him with snuggles every single day.

Elliott is a very typical, 6 month old puppy. He spends his days practicing crate training, playing and exploring outside, emptying out the toy box, wrestling with his foster siblings and taking long naps on the couch with his canine friends as the evening winds down. He is a little timid in new situations so he will need some continued training and socialization to help him build confidence.

Elliott has done amazing with potty training. He hasn't had any accidents in the house in the week he has been here. We do keep him on a pretty strict schedule to prevent accidents. He goes outside right away after being let out of the crate, naps or bouts of heavy playtime. He was initially a little antsy in the crate but has settled in well to a crate routine while I work. He is used to being crated up to four hours at a time with a long break at lunch to get his wiggles out. He settles in quickly and is mostly quiet. He will fuss a bit when he hears things around when he is crated. He will also bark when he isn't crated and hears things outside or in neighboring yards. For this reason, he probably wouldn't do well in a living space with shared walls.

Elliott is a little timid but warms up quickly. He readily approaches when comfortable and will sit back and watch if he is overwhelmed (usually larger groups of people). He doesn't have kids in his foster home. He has met one kid (probably about 7 years old) on a walk. He was overwhelmed because there was a large group of people in the yard so he didn't want to walk up to her. Once I held him, he sat still as she petted him. He would do best with dog saavy kids that will let him approach on his terms. He is occasionally mouthy when excited so I would suggest supervision with really young kids until he learns those boundaries.

He currently has three other pups in his foster home; two adult dogs and another puppy about the same age as him. For the most part, he has done really well with the other dogs. He play poses to engage in play, respects the other pups' boundaries when they ask him to back off and genuinely enjoys the company of his canine friends. There have been a few instances that he vocalized to get the other dogs to back off when he had a toy or ice cube but has also shared well in other instances. He may just be asserting himself as he settles in with new pups but you may want to supervise with higher value treats/toys. He has met several other dogs on leash and will bark at first but settles into walking together quickly. He would do great with another doggo in his forever home.

Elliott does have two kitties in his foster home. He hasn't showed any interest in the cats at all. Pretty much just ignores them. He would do fine in a home with cats but as always, we suggest slow introductions to new animal friends as all cats and environments can be different.

Elliott gets most of his energy out playing with the other pups in his foster home. He loves wrestling and playing chase. He is a medium energy dude that likes long naps after play time. He does pretty well on leash but in busier/new areas or areas with a lot of people can get more hesitant and nervous. May bark when he sees other dogs. He does well in the car (crated) and settles in quickly for the ride.

Elliott hasn't been too destructive in our home but he is still a curious puppy so we crate him when we leave. He settles in quickly and is mostly quiet.

Elliott tested positive for anaplasma which is a tick bourne disease. He has not shown any clinical signs but is being treated with a round of antibiotics as a precautionary measure. He has a chipped tooth that will need to be watched with his regular check ups. It may need to be removed down the road if it chips further or causes him issue.

We have loved having this sweet, affectionate pup with us and know he will charm his forever family with his very sweet and endearing nature.
