Meet Dolores (aka Didi or Dot)! She is the most wonderful, little pup and is ready to find her forever family. She was born in foster care and was the bossy one of her litter. Over the last nine weeks she has been gathering all the life skills she will need to take on the world. She is a silly, independent, confident, fun pup that is an absolute joy to have around.
Dolores is a very typical, 2 month old puppy. She spends her days practicing crate training, playing with her foster siblings and emptying out the toy box. She loves meal times and gets yappy if I take too long putting her kibbles together. She plays hard but loves to snuggle with the humans and her puppy friends as the evening winds down.
Dolores is a pretty friendly gal and just takes a few seconds to approach new friends, especially if they have treats. I haven't observed her with any kids while she has been in foster care. She does jump up/mouth when she gets excited so she would need supervision with really young kids until she learns those boundaries. She loves to get pets from the people and snuggle up close to them when she is ready for a nap.
She currently has two other (adult) pups in her foster home. She did have another puppy in her foster home for her first couple days here and she did well with appropriate play. She reads the other dog’s cues pretty well and will back off if they tell her they need more space. She is very playful/loves other dogs and would do great with another pup in her forever home.
Dolores does have a kitty in her foster home that she has done well with. The cat usually keeps quite a bit of distance from the dogs, but she hasn't been too interested in him when he has been moving around the house. Based on my observations, I think she could live with a cat with little issue but we do always recommend slow/controlled introductions between kitties and pups.
Dolores gets most of her energy out playing with the other pups or playing with toys. She loves wrestling and playing in the yard. She is a medium energy pup that likes long naps after play time. She has only been on leash a couple times so leash walking is still a work in progress. She does well in the car (crated) after a few minutes to settle in. She is always up for an adventure, so she would be a great pup to take on adventures to parks, hiking trails or outdoor patios (once able to do so).
Dolores hasn't been left alone too much since I have been off work this week but we have been practicing crating a few hours a day. She whines/barks a bit at first but settles in after a bit. She does definitely need to be crated when we leave as she is a typical puppy and will have accidents/chew things. She will chew on cords, shoes, scraps on the floor, etc so will need to be closely monitored. She has been doing well with potty training on a schedule and has started walking towards the door when she needs to go out. She has slept through the night (7 hours) without a break the last couple of nights.
We have loved having this sweet, spunky pup with us and know she will bring lots of love and puppy kisses with her to her forever home!
