Updates

Dolma usually gets up around 6 AM when her human lets her out of her crate and takes her outside for bathroom things. She then is fed breakfast using a slow feeder (otherwise she will scarf down her food too fast and it won't last long in her tum). After about an hour of running around, Dolma is then crated and given a chew stick so the humans can go to work. About 7 to 8 hours later she is let out again and taken back outside. She is given about a cup of food when she is let out in the afternoon and then again before bed. The rest of the time she spends sniffing around, playing with toys, and chewing on a bone.

Dolma does very well with people and she especially loves licking their faces if they get close enough. She is very excited to meet other neighbors and friends and will greet them without jumping but with a lot of enthusiasm.

Dolma has not yet had any experiences with children while I’ve been fostering her.

Dolma is overall very chill, she enjoys running around in the snow and playing fetch or tug, but she is also very content lazing about. She enjoys going on walks and is still learning some leash manners but generally does very well.

Dolma is very happy and excited to be with other dogs. She is playful and friendly with the resident dog, and even though the resident dog sometimes wants to play more than Dolma does, she is patient and does not get upset with the other dog. She has also enjoyed meeting neighbor dogs and is excited to play with them if they want.

Dolma does very well with the resident cats. She is interested in them and will cautiously try to approach, but as soon as the cats warn her to stay back, she backs off. Occasionally she will go into a puppy play pose and growl a little at one, very eager to play, but will not chase or pursue if the cat runs away.

When left alone, Dolma is crated and does very well. She may whine for a few minutes but will settle down quickly and be okay by herself. She is also incredibly excited whenever you get home and let her out, showing her joy at your return by wagging her tail with such enthusiasm it looks like she might fall over.

We are still working on potty training - she has gotten much better with not having accidents in the house and going quickly when taken outside, and she is learning how to use bells to indicate when she needs to go. In typical puppy fashion, she is still learning the difference between toys and things she shouldn't chew on, but she is a fast learner and responds well when you tell her to drop something.

Dolma was positive for anaplasma, a tick-borne disease, but is not showing any clinical signs. A positive result for anaplasma just indicates antibodies to this bacteria, not necessarily an active infection. Per our rescue protocol, she is currently being given a round of antibiotics.

Dolma is still learning some manners but is picking them up quickly. She is very food motivated and happy to take any medications she might need with a spoonful of peanut butter (though she will likely try to run off with the spoon to enjoy in her own time). She is a huge sweetie who is very eager to please and would make a great addition to any home.
