Cody found his family on August 19, 2020!
Cody is a super loving boy who wants to spend his day giving you all his love by playing with you and other dogs. He will go from rough housing with his foster brothers to taking a nap on the bed by himself in a heartbeat.
Due to COVID, he has not had any exposure to children. I know he would eventually do well with children of all ages, but in a typical puppy fashion he is very friendly and doesn't understand how big he is or has a very strong sense of personal space. This may be an issue with younger children. I am confident this won’t be an issue with a little training and age. He would absolutely love if there were kids around that he could play with.
Cody is pretty medium energy and will kind of go with the flow with whatever you are doing. If you (and other dogs) are active, so is he. He loves to be outside and is pretty good with on a leash with a harness but is still learning. He will occasionally forget he is on a leash and will quickly go from sitting to outrunning the leash (this is an issue if he doesn't have a harness since he will choke himself this way). Once the leash pulls back on him, he remembers and will be fine again. He doesn't constantly pull on the leash and will stay pretty close to you once the excitement of being outside has subsided.
He has no experience off leash but I'm confident he would be fully capable of it with some training.
Cody is great with other dogs and loves nothing more than to play or cuddle on the couch with them. He isn't super interested in toys (unless another dog has one and wants to play with it), so can be prone to boredom if no other dogs or people want to play with him. He is very much a puppy who lacks a sense of personal space or an understanding of how big he is, which can get on the nerves of any non-puppies that are around.
He has no exposure to cats. Cody can be cat tested by Fetch if the family has a cat.
As long as Cody has other dogs to play with and access to the outside, he has no issues (I have a doogy door with an area fenced in by a wire fence). He is still a puppy and without access to the outside he will have accidents inside. Cody has never been destructive, however, that could be different if he alone without any dogs to play with. He has only been in a crate a couple of times. Each time whenever you move out of his line-of-sight, he would howl and cry until he could see you again. So he is not crate trained, but wouldn't be hard to train him if desired.
He is supposedly able to climb a chain link fence, but this has not been a problem for me as I have a wire fence and it is not sturdy enough for him to pull himself up. I have seen him attempt this twice when he first came to me, but it's been weeks since then.
Cody is a very smart and loving boy who wants nothing more than to give you 200% of his love (all the time!) and is eager to please you. He loves to cuddle as much as he does play but doesn't understand why he has to lay next to you instead of being on your lap. I believe would benefit greatly from all levels of training and is capable of doing advanced training if you wanted. He would be a great running, hiking, or just outside buddy. Whatever you are doing, he is game.
