Updates

PUPDATE 2

Chico has made great progress and will be a wonderful addition to his future forever home.

Leash skills have been mastered! He was hesitant at first, but with some practice, he is walking like a champ with the big dogs. He doesn’t pull, loves to greet people and dogs, and takes notice when bikes pass by.

Chico loves chew toys and really likes playing with his toy elephant. His favorite thing is to be outside, chasing bugs, helping me garden, and playing with his foster brother. As you can see on the photo, the fresh air takes it out of him! This weekend, we had a guest pup, and they all got along great.

Though this handsome Great Dane mix has legs for days, he is actually pretty slender and is not likely to get too much bigger. He is all the fun, goody personality of a Dane in a pocket sized package.

Chico would love to find his furever family!

PUPDATE 1

Chico wakes up around 7am, goes out to potty and stretch his legs, and returns to his crate for breakfast. He then goes back to sleep while I go to work. He does well in his crate all day while I'm gone. When I'm home, he goes back out for some time in the yard to play with his foster brother. He has gotten more comfortable being outside and entertaining himself chasing bugs and chewing on toys. Chico settles down around 8pm and sleeps well through the night.

Chico can be a bit shy with new people, but he warms up quickly. He is a shadow and loves to be with his person.

Chico has not had a lot of time with children. He was exposed early on and did not seem nervous around them. He does like to jump, but he is pretty small at this point, so he would do alright with young children.

Chico is medium energy and does just fine with periods of time outside in the yard. He settles down quickly in his crate. He is still learning to walk on a leash.

Chico gets a lot of confidence from my other dog and would do well with another dog in the house. He likes to play with my older dog. Chico responds well to warnings if he doesn't want to play.

Potty training is going well. When let out, he typically goes to the bathroom right away. He hasn't figured out how to alert me when he has to go. He hasn't had any accidents when let out regularly. No accidents in the crate. Chico really likes the car, but he tends to want to be close to me. With my other dog in the car, he will sit calmly in the passenger seat. If he doesn't have a doggy companion, probably best to be crated in the car. He is still learning to walk on a leash. Can be a bit hesitant. He does best walking with my dog. Chico is still a puppy and likes to chew. He especially likes to seek out my shoes to chew on.

Chico is always crated when left alone. While he settles quickly when I'm around, he does cry for a bit if I leave the house. He does best when he has had time to play.

Chico is a lover. He loves to be held and cuddle. He is a very sweet boy!
