Happy adoption to Carmen on October 31, 2020!

Carmen wakes up from a good night's sleep in her crate and has breakfast before going for a quick potty break outside. We come back inside so her humans can have breakfast and coffee, Carmen plays with her foster sister or her toys while she waits. Before work, we take her for a run around the nearby park to get her morning zoomies out. This is an important and fun part of our day together, and it ensures Carmen will spend the work day napping so her humans aren't distracted.

After work, it's time for more playing! We take another nice walk and spend some time playing with our toys. In the evening we hang out on the couch and play games together (Carmen's favorite game is Animal Crossing because there are lots of fun sounds).

Carmen hasn't spent a lot of time around kids, but will be a great family dog after some additional training. Right now she can get a little mouthy and jumpy when she's excited, typical puppy behavior, but is quickly learning that nipping at hands or feet means that playtime is over. She responds well to redirection and correction.

Carmen is extremely friendly to every human she meets. She loves to play and cuddle with her foster parents and doesn't even mind hanging out at the vet because they give her lots of treats! As she gains more confidence, I'm sure she'll be a friendly dog who can go everywhere with her new family!

Carmen is a medium energy dog who needs daily exercise to keep her happy. Her foster home doesn't have a yard, so we make sure to take her for a quick run at the park every morning to get her energy out. We do a couple other shorter walks and potty breaks throughout the day, and one longer walk (around 45 min) in the evening. She loves to play with other dogs, so having a yard and a doggy sibling would be a great way to tire her out!

She walks well on leash and loves to explore the nearby park with us. usually she'll only pull when she sees a squirrel, and even then is easily redirected back to the walk. She does get distracted by other dogs and people and will stop to stare at them. We tell her "Come on, Carmen. Let's go!" and she happily continues the walk with us. She's still learning about the world and has barked at bicycles and strollers (they're big and scary!), but is getting braver and more curious every day!

Carmen hasn't been around cats, but seems excited to chase and play when we see cats outside on walks. Due to her constant desire to play and her size, she might not be the best companion for a cat.

She loves to play with her doggy foster sister and would do well in a home where she can be around another dog, or where she could go to daycare once in a while to socialize and play with doggy friends.

Due to our WFH schedules, Carmen hasn't been home alone for long amounts of time. She prefers not to be crated during the day, so we use baby gates to restrict her to one room. She does bark and cry a bit when we leave, but usually settles down before too long. She loves toys and is content to play by herself. Having our resident dog thereto keep her company also helps her settle in.
Carmen always wants to be in the same room as her humans. While we're working we bring her crate into our office and she naps there through the day. At night we move the crate into our bedroom and she happily sleeps there next to our bed without any fuss.

Carmen is a sweet girl who will be a fantastic family dog, she has so much love to give! She's very playful and curious so will need firm boundaries and consistent training to overcome her puppy behaviors.

She's very soft and fluffy, but we haven't noticed much shedding so that's another bonus! As long as she gets regular exercise, she's a happy girl!
