Updates
PUPDATE 3
Buck has been having so many fun adventures lately. He has been to several dog-friendly events and done so well meeting all of the people and other dogs, even in really busy environments. He would do well as a regular on dog-friendly patios or dog-friendly festivals.
He has also spent some more time with kids which he absolutely loved. He is so sweet and gentle with the kids he has met and loves giving kisses and gently taking treats. He would do great with some kiddos to love on.
PUPDATE 2
Buck has continued to do great in our home. After potty and big stretches, we start our day with lots of snuggles and kisses from this affectionate boy. He hasn't had an accident in about a week and is doing great in his crate.
He had some puppy guests this weekend and did great making new friends. He eats in the same space with the other dogs and shares toys with no resource guarding at all. He is definitely showing more interest in the kitties now and will chase and bark to engage play. He isn't trying to hurt them, just a bit overzealous. He may need some corrections from both felines and humans until he learns appropriate boundaries with the kitties.
He is doing well on leash and gets excited to see other people and dogs when he is out exploring the neighborhood. He is comfortable going potty on leash and loves to sniff around as we walk.
He is the sweetest, snuggliest boy and he can't wait to meet his forever family.
PUPDATE 1
Meet Buck! With his short legs, big ears and long bod, Buck is bursting with character. He is an easy going guy that would love to find family that will take him on lots of adventures.
Buck is a very typical 4 month old puppy. He spends his days practicing crate training, playing and exploring outside, emptying out the toy box, playing chase with his foster siblings and taking long naps on the couch with his canine friends as the evening winds down. He is a sweet and affectionate guy that loves to snuggle with his people.
Buck is doing well with potty training as long as he is kept on a schedule. He is figuring out crate training and settles in fairly quickly in the crate, especially with a frozen kong or chew treat to work on. He is crated in an adjacent room while I work and stays pretty quiet unless he has to go potty. He is crated for 3-4 hours at a time with a long break at lunch and does well with that schedule. Overnight he is crated across the bedroom from me and settles in very quickly. He sleeps through the night (7 hours) without breaks.
Buck is a friendly guy that loves meeting new people. He settled in very quickly with his foster folks and spent several hours at the Fetch 5K in the puppy pen, meeting lots of new people. He doesn't have kids in his foster home but he met several at the 5K and was interested in interacting. He can be a little mouthy when excited so would need supervision until he learns those boundaries.
He currently has two adult dogs in his foster home and two puppy playmates. This guy LOVES dog friends and having pals to whip around with. He loves playing chase and wrestling with pals and does pretty well reading other dogs’ cues. He does appreciate space from his puppy pals during naps on the couch and will get a little grumbly if the other dogs invade his space while he is snoozing. This has improved over the last week as he has gotten more comfortable with the dogs in his foster home.
Buck does have two kitties in his foster home. He has perked up a few times when the cats make an appearance but has done well redirecting if needed. Especially with other dog pals, he typically has more pressing business to tend to. He would do fine in a home with cats but as always, we suggest slow introductions to new animal friends as all cats and environments can be different.
Buck gets most of his energy out playing with toys, sniffing around the yard and playing with the other pups in his foster home. He is a medium energy dude that likes long naps after play time. He has only been on leash a few times so we are still working on those leash skills. Like most puppies he gets distracted so will need lots of practice to fine tune those skills. He is a more vocal guy so would likely do best in a home without shared walls. He barks to engage play which is pretty typical, but he will also bark if he hears people/other dogs outside/in the yard.
Buck is still a curious puppy so we crate him when we leave to avoid him finding shoes, cords or rugs to chew on. He settles in pretty quickly when crated especially with a treat for him to focus on.
We have loved having this goofy guy in our home and can't wait to introduce Buck to his forever family!
