Abby patiently waits for me to wake up and I bring her outside for a walk. We have been working on training and she knows sit, down, leave it, wait, come, and shake/high-five! She's a very smart dog. I have been giving her the proper amount of "puppy approved" exercise (about 25 minutes twice per day for her age) and she often spends her days sleeping in cute and awkward sleeping positions.
She has been doing REALLY well with other people. She gets excited and jumps a little, but she does know the command "off." Given that she is 5 months old, her impulse control is growing along with her. When she gets some initial excitement out of her system, Abby is actually quite calm and loves to make friends.
Abby has done well with children. When she gets riled up and excited, she occasionally gives puppy nips a little. This happens mostly when playing chase. When I ignore the behavior, she stops quickly.
I have been exercising her the recommended amount for her age. When she is in the house, she has a calm demeanor, but she has great stamina and energy when exercising. She's a little young to be a running buddy quite yet, but with the short spurts we have done, she has done very well. Additionally, I took her camping with friends, and she was an ANGEL. She enjoys the outdoors.
She has done well with other dogs. If the other dog is hyper and jumpy, she will remain calm and allow them to sniff her. When the dog is more submissive, she is gentle and wants to play.
I have a cat and Abby has not been aggressive with him. However, she does chase him in the house quite a bit. They are getting more used to each other and I'm sure over time it will get even better. My cat is getting a little tired of having to be up high on furniture so she won't chase him, so for cats' sake I would say she'd do better in a home without a cat, but she is so well-behaved that I am convinced over time she will stop getting so excited about him.
She tends to bark when I first put her in the crate, but she stops barking pretty quickly. (I've stood outside of my window to see how long it takes her.) I think when Abby is older she could stay outside of the crate when people leave the house, but for now I'm keeping her in the crate.
Abby is a fun-loving, sweet dog who responds very well to training. She sits every time I put her leash on and will wait at the door when I say wait (even when it's wide open) until I tell her it's ok to go through. The family who adopts Abby will be very lucky to have this bundle of joy in their lives.
