Updates
Zora is a sweet and calm girl who sleeps though the night in her crate. We're usually up around 8 for a short walk around the yard to go potty and then back inside to eat. She loves sniffing out her food, so I feed her by putting her kibble in various food toys/puzzles/snuffle mats. After a nap we go outside for a longer walk. While I work, she mostly sleeps next to me with more potty breaks/walks throughout the day. She usually gets playful for a short time in the evening and will make you laugh with her goofy moves.
Zora was initially very cautious with new people and although she's still slightly hesitant, she's made huge improvements. As long as they're respectful of her space, she approaches them calmly and with curiosity. She has never jumped or barked when we have visitors and gently takes treats from them.
Zora has met a few children ranging from 6 to 13 years old and did great! She can be skittish with loud noises or sudden movements, but not aggressive. She can be rambunctiously un-graceful during playtime, so wouldn't recommend small children around her.
For most of the day, Zora is a calm and low-energy dog. She loves walks and following scent trails. She is doing really well with loose-leash walking and will need consistency for this to continue. She gets short spurts of high energy, usually in the early evening, when she likes to play with her toys.
Zora lives with an 11-pound Pomeranian who she is curious about, but mostly ignores. Same for other dogs that have visited the home. Outside of the home, she is curious about other dogs, but doesn't bark or lunge. The only time she did was when an aggressive dog at the vet snarled and lunged at her.
Zora has had minimal exposure to cats. We see them on walks and she's extremely curious but doesn't appear to have prey drive toward them.
Zora had a successful knee surgery for a luxating patella July 30th and was given the full go-ahead to resume normal activities on September 21st. She developed some separation anxiety after her surgery and will panic if left alone longer than her threshold. We are working to gradually de-sensitize her and she will need someone who's able to continue doing this.
Zora is such a sweet girl who just wants to be by her humans. She would love to be your hiking buddy!
