PUDPATE 2
Xander is a phenomenal dog who has settled into a routine in our structured household. When walking, I hardly feel him on the leash (no pulling!), and he is quiet as a mouse when in his crate. He gets along with our two bulldogs without any issues and is the sweetest companion. I am not a runner, but he would be a great running or hiking buddy with his energy and ability to quickly follow commands. At first, Xander wanted to chase our resident cat, but after a few weeks, he has learned to co-exist peacefully with her and watches her from afar, respectfully. She can walk by him without his even flinching! Xander has not been kid-tested, but I would venture to guess that he'd do well in a family setting as long as the children are respectful and gentle.
PUPDATE 1
Xander is an early riser with his foster mama and begins his day with a potty break and breakfast, followed by a 30+ minute structured walk and poop time. He spends 6-7 hours in his crate, resting up for training time in the afternoon (Place, Sit, Shake, Down), followed by supper, cuddles, and a 20+ minute evening walk.
He is a total lover and enjoys being around people, especially when he gets treats and/or belly rubs! He has not been kid tested with us, but his Texas foster home stated that he did well with older children.
Xander is a medium energy dog with a lot of playful puppy type of zest who adapts well to the household. He would benefit from a fenced yard in which to run zoomies as well as at least one structured walk every day; we use a prong collar to help him walk nicely on a leash, and he does very well in the Heel position.
He is playful and fun and would do well with almost any dog after a slow introduction period. He would love to chase our cat, if allowed, but we are training him that cats are friends, not food.
Xander does have some separation anxiety and will bark when left completely alone, especially if he has not been recently exercised. He is soothed by the presence of other dogs and really enjoys having humans in his sight. We’ve fostered Xander the past 12 days and with a consistent routine and schedule he’s vastly improved. He will just need a family who can let him settle in.
Xander is a gem of a dog, very trainable, eager to please, and so sweet. He can be slightly skittish and anxious at times, but with consistent love, support, and structure, he will thrive and be an excellent family dog!
