PUPDATE 2
Winny continues to blossom in her foster home! She loves following her people around to get attention and see what is going on. She is becoming very playful and has even allowed us to rub her belly a few times! Since arriving to WI she has been a little sensitive or insecure about her stomach being touched so this has been a huge improvement for her.
Winny has handled the chilly fall weather like a champ with a light coat or sweater. The past few days she has been going for longer walks and loving it. She also doesn’t seem to mind light rain and will take care of her business outside very quickly so she can come back inside.
She loves curling up in blankets and is also learning how great cuddling can be! When Winny wants up on the couch or bed, she will sit and stare with her sweet eyes until someone lifts her up. She will settle right down and stay there for hours.
Winny has been a joy to foster but we so are excited for her to find her perfect furever home!
PUPDATE 1
A typical day for Winny involves waking up and going right outside to potty. She then comes inside and eats breakfast before settling down for her morning nap. She'll spend the rest of the day going out to potty every few hours and resting. She is well house trained and once she is comfortable, she will go to the door when she needs to go out. She does get energetic and enjoys running off a small amount of energy every once in a while, typically in the evenings. Most days she will just go on a short walk but she has had more exciting days where she will go on a longer walk or a short hike. She eats dinner around 6 pm and begins to wind down around 8 pm. We put her in her crate around 11 pm and she will sleep quietly until 7 or 8 am.
Winny is initially shy with strangers but she loves receiving attention! She is such a sweet girl and wants to soak up all the love she can get. Now that she has been with us for a few weeks she has started to become more affectionate and curious. She enjoys being where her people are and will follow us to see what we are up to. She has not spent time with children in our care, but I'm sure she would do great with kids that are able to respect her boundaries and move slow since she is an older girl.
Winny is relatively low energy. The first few days she was with us she spent most of her time resting, but now that she is comfortable her personality has started to shine through! She gets small bursts of energy a few times a day and enjoys running up and down the hallway before going back to napping. She is not interested in toys but loves watching her people to see what they are up to. Winny is perfect on a leash! She gets very excited when we put her leash on because she knows she gets to go outside and sniff around. She does not pull on her leash and has the cutest little trot when she walks!
She has not had a lot of direct contact with other dogs in our care, but she does seem to do well with them. She will bark a few times at other dogs on walks because she is so excited and just wants to play. Overall, it is not necessary for Winny to live with another dog, but she might enjoy the company of another calm dog. A puppy's energy might be too much for her to handle. She has not met any cats in our care but has a laid back personality.
When we leave Winny alone, we normally put her in her crate. She seems to enjoy the quiet and cozy area to sleep when we are gone. She has been left alone outside of her crate for short periods of time and did not get into any trouble. She is not destructive and has not shown any signs of separation anxiety. She is a very quiet girl overall and only barks when she sees other dogs on walks.
Winny is an older girl and has many old lady lumps on her body. The lumps do not bother her and the vet said they are not of concern at this time, but it is something to be aware of. She also had 14 teeth removed after arriving to Wisconsin! She seems to be in much less pain now and does great on a diet of wet food only. She does not know many commands and seems to be a little hard of hearing (or just selective) but she is very well behaved. Overall, Winny is a sweet senior girl looking for the perfect home to nap in and people who will spoil her with attention!
