Adopted on May 25, 2021!

Vader is an early riser, often about 5 am with my husband. He whines in his crate to go out immediately when you come out. He plays with his siblings or my dogs until he eats at 6 am. He goes back out to go potty and plays in the yard. We are playing outside or inside for several hours and then he naps. He crates for no more than 3 hours during the day but usually he is out when I am home. He eats again at noon and dinner at 6 pm. No more water after 8 pm and bedtime about 10:30 pm. We play lullaby music on Pandora for about 15 minutes before bed and I set the TV timer to play for 30 additional minutes once he settles down.

Vader loves everyone. He is not shy or timid. He greets dogs and people with enthusiasm. He does not jump up much and we have been encouraging off if he does. He is a happy guy with everyone he has met.

He plays daily with my 5 year old grandson. He does occasional puppy biting or jumping but he is learning and not aggressive at all with him. Vader does not jump up on him and enjoys a good belly rub!

Vader plays hard and naps hard. He wrestles hard with his littermate but he will play with my resident dog. He also respects my older dog’s warnings that she is not interested in play.

He gets along well with both his siblings and my two resident dogs. He is respectful of older dogs and their desire not to play. He would be a great playmate for another younger dog. Vader does not live with cats.

He cries in the crate until you leave but then, as I have seen on camera, he settles down and plays with his chew toy or sleeps. He is a vocal crier when you leave so get everything ready, and right before you go out, crate him. The longer you are in the home, the louder he gets. He will learn in time to trust that you are coming back. He will greet you with the same enthusiasm! We are working on “wait”. He may improve faster without his sister, who is also quite vocal.

Vadar was hospitalized with parvo late April/early May. Supportive care was provided and he was discharged after about a week at the emergency vet. Once a dog clears parvo symptoms, there is no risk of them coming back (as long as the dog remains vaccinated). Shortly following adoption, you may need to be a bit cautious where you bring your pup as they could still be shedding the virus for a short time following the resolution of symptoms.

Vader has a goofy, fun loving personality. He has is very focused on birds and raises his front paw automatically when tuned in. He is a great snuggler and loves attention but he doesn’t have to be right next to you, just in the same room. He tries to choose dog toys but occasionally a shoe makes it’s way into his mouth. We keep shoes put away to avoid temptation. He will need to be crated when gone and for short periods as practice when home. He goes straight to his kennel when you say “Kennel up” and eats in his kennel. He doesn’t mind being alone, he just doesn’t like that initial separation. He would do better in a home with another dog as a companion.
