Updates
Meet Ube! This beautiful, brindle girl with soulful eyes is ready to find her forever home. She is a little shy at first but otherwise is a laid back, sweet and affectionate pup that loves to play with other pups and toys.
Ube is a very typical, 4 month old puppy. She is a bit houndy in that she loves to be sniffing around outside. This girl loves mulch and seeking out the perfect piece to munch on or to use to entice the other puppies in a game of chase. She also has top notch sun bathing skills. Give her a sunny deck or patch of grass and she will happily demonstrate.
She spends her days practicing crate training, playing in the yard with her foster siblings and emptying out the toy box. She loves meal times and has done well sharing her eating space with the other puppies we are fostering, though I hang out pretty close and make sure everyone sticks to their own bowls. She loves her food and will try to sneak some from other pups' bowls if she finishes first. She plays hard and crashes hard after lots of playtime. After a busy day of playing, she loves to snuggle near the humans or other puppies as the evening winds down.
Ube does pretty well with potty training if you keep her on a schedule. She goes outside right away after being let out of the crate, naps or bouts of heavy playtime. She does still have accidents though so she will need to be watched closely. She does really well in her crate, goes in readily and is mostly quiet. She is used to being crated for about four hour chunks with a long break at lunch. She may have an accident in the crate when crated for longer periods or if she doesn’t go potty right before going in the crate. Overnight she is crated and has been doing well for 6-7 hours without a break.
Ube is a little shy at first but warms up to new people after a short time. As with most shy pups, she starts to show more and more of her incredibly sweet personality as she becomes more comfortable with someone. She doesn’t seem to mind if someone new is in our home, she will just find an out of the way spot to hang out for a bit until she gets curious enough to interact. She is very comfortable with her foster family and loves to snuggle next to them on the couch or sneak some kisses if she finds herself close enough to your face. She loves our “good morning routine” which includes being carried outside from her crate because she is little slow to wake up/exit her crate, a quick potty and chase with the other pups and edging out the other pups for lots of kisses, cuddles and good scritches as soon as I sit on the floor. She doesn't have kids in her foster home and has really only seen them on walks. Since she is more timid and would need time to warm up to them, she would probably do best with kids that are a bit older and able to take direction/correction when first meeting her.
She currently has four other pups in her foster home; two adult dogs and two other puppies. She plays mostly with the other puppies in her foster home and loves to play. She can be vocal when playing with the other dogs and loves to bark to try to get them to engage. Otherwise she is fairly quiet in the house. She gets excited for time with the adult pups but is submissive with them and gives space, if needed. Ube would love a canine friend in her forever home.
Ube does have two kitties in her foster home. She is very interested in the kitties. If they are laying on the back of the couch, she jumps up there and tries to give them kisses. She does well when the cats are just hanging out but will chase/try to play with them if they run. Based on my observations, I think she could live with a cat but would need supervised interaction and some correction from both felines and humans so she can learn those boundaries.
Ube gets most of her energy out playing with the other pups in her home. She loves wrestling and playing chase. She is a medium energy gal that likes long naps after play time. She does ok on leash but walks like a typical puppy so will need some practice. She gets distracted easily and likes to people watch and check everything out with her houndy snout but keeps moving fairly well. She does well in the car (crated) and settles in quickly for the ride.
When we leave, Ube is crated. She is still very much a puppy so the crate keeps her out of trouble (chewing, accidents, making other messes). She will chew on cords, shoes, scraps on the floor, etc so will need to be closely monitored.
We have loved having this sweet pup with us and know her forever family will just adore getting to know her.
