Doberman/Shepherd Mix | male | 5 Years Old | 100 Lbs
QUICK FACTS: ✔️ Good with cats! ✔️ Potty trained! ✔️ Crate trained! ✔️ Good in the car! ️ ✔️ Good with other dogs and people but needs slow intros
Tyler is a healthy 5yr old Doberman Shephard mix who weighs 100 lbs. He has been absolutely wonderful, but unfortunately we are now relocating.
He is fully trained, very intelligent, and eager to please. He has lived solo and he's lived with other dogs. Of the two, he prefers having doggy playmates at home. He's polite and deferential to our cat.
He's a Doberman and a Shepherd, bred for protecting his home and his family. He is very obedient and very well trained, and he interacts well with guests after being properly introduced, but care must be taken when strangers approach. He's a sweetheart and doesn't pull on the leash during walks, but some people will cross to the other side of the street at the sight of him. If a little dog charges down its driveway barking at him, he will bark back. Everyone will assume it's his fault because of his size and breed. As a shepherd, he will sometimes get up off the couch and quietly walk through the house to check that everyone is safe before flopping back down to sleep with a heavy contented sigh.
Besides mastering sit, down, stay, come, heel, spin, shake, and roll over, Tyler is fully trained in that he will absolutely never jump up. He is tall enough that he lowers his head to rest it on the kitchen table, but he would never think of counter surfing or begging for food or eating things that drop on the floor. He asks for permission before joining us on a couch. As a Doberman, he barks at things out the window that he thinks might be a threat, but he responds right away to "Tyler, come here, lay down, and stay."
Tyler brings the best of both worlds with his calmness and energetic spirit. He spends much of the day snoozing near his people, but he loves to play tug with a thick rope and he is very strong. He loves to gallop full tilt across a field, chasing and being chased by doggy friends. He has no interest in chasing rabbits or bunnies or birds. He is loving but not overly clingy or needy. He's hoping for a home with enough space and energy for him to thrive.
