This sweet senior found his forever family December 16, 2020!
Say hello to this crazy little kid - Tiger! He wakes up in the morning and loves to go for a quick walk and potty break then follows me around the house as I get ready for the day. After breakfast, Tiger will snooze in his crate while I work. Sometimes in the afternoon, he hangs out in a bed next to my desk while I finish working. After work, we go for another short walk and then Tiger is happy to snuggle on the couch the rest of the evening. He sleeps in his crate at night for up to 10 hours.
Tiger does well with strangers he has met with me and does not seem to be scared of anyone. He is not super bouncy and bubbly, but he will follow new people around and politely wag his tail at them. He especially loves to hope in people's arms or laps if they let him. Anywhere he can keep warm. :)
Tiger has not met any children while in my care.
He is a lovely low energy little boy who is happy to go on walks or follow you around with whatever you're doing. However, his true joy is finding a warm spot on the couch underneath a good blanket. As any good Chihuahua would! Tiger walks well on a leash and does not pull much.
Tiger does well with my other two foster dogs and my two resident dogs. He doesn't seem to want to play with the dogs and appears a little overwhelmed when the other dogs are being rambunctious, but he gets along very well with all of them. He even lets the other dogs snuggle him on the couch if they like. Tiger has not paid any attention to my two cats so far either - just how the cats prefer it!
When I am out of the house, I put Tiger in his crate, and he does very well in there. He doesn't always go in on his own since he prefers the couch, but he doesn't put up a fuss once he's in. I have actually not heard him bark at all yet while he's been with me. Tiger has only had one pee accident in the house while with me and this was when we didn't get outside right away after letting him out of the crate in the morning. He has not had any accidents or done any marking otherwise when taken out potty every 4 hours or so when not in the crate.
Tiger is a very easy dog to care for and anyone would be lucky to have him. Adopters will want to keep track of his teeth since he has some gingivitis - vet approved dental treats and teeth brushing would be great! Tiger has a wiry layer to his hair that does grow longer (unclear how quickly). Check out his pictures to see what he looks like when his hair grows out really far. The longer hair has been referred to lovingly by volunteers as "grandpa spikes". :)
