Updates
Thumbelina has blossomed in our care. She loves to explore everywhere with climbing the stairs to getting up on the couch. Thumbelina is agile and fast and loves to run around the yard but she is just as content to sit by her person or curl up on the couch and take a nap.
She sleeps in her crate throughout the night. Thumbelina took about 12 hours to get used to my dogs but loves being part of the group. She even continues to try to befriend my cranky guy. She would be very content as an only dog but also very good for an older dog that likes to play but not too long. She was a little barky, initially, but with some quick treats and training she quickly picked up on “settle” and waits for me to open the crate. She has not barked at new and scary things either. She does not love my sprinkler system in the lawn but it is entertaining watching her trying to avoid them and run the gauntlet to get to the door. She loves to snuggle on the couch but doesn’t demand constant attention. She loves kisses and snuggles!!
She is food and attention motivated. She rides well in the car. She is still learning what is appropriate to chew on but is easily redirected.
Thumbelina needs work on leash training. She would need to go out to go potty, as any young puppy, every 4 hours or so. She has only had one accident and that was on her arrival. She was so excited, she forgot to go outside when we were there. She does take her time finding the “right spot” so make sure she does.
She likes music as a calming tool when I am gone during the day and has lullaby music at night. She has lived with cats in the past and has not demonstrated any prey drive here.
She has grown and changed even in the short time here. I am much more confident checking the box, good for an apartment. She will be a nice small/medium size dog.
She is ready for her forever home.
