Steve is working through some behaviors before he’ll begin meeting applicants.

Meet Steve, the adorable 6-month-old puppy with a goofy smile and tons of potential! Steve spent his early months in a shelter, so he’s still learning the ropes of polite puppy behavior and how to interact with his human friends. Right now, Steve’s a bit of a “mouthy” communicator, meaning he sometimes uses his teeth in ways he shouldn’t—just a puppy thing he’s working on!

Steve would benefit greatly from a doggy sibling who can show him the ropes and help him learn positive social cues. A confident, well-mannered dog would be an ideal role model, guiding Steve on how to play politely and feel more comfortable in his new home. Watching and learning from another dog would help Steve build confidence and reinforce good habits, making the adjustment much easier and more fun. Steve would also thrive with a leader who can help him with socialization, ideally one that’s experienced with puppies or willing to work with a trainer.

With a bit of patience and some guidance, Steve is eager to become a well-mannered, gentle companion. He’s a smart boy, and he responds really well to positive reinforcement (treats are his love language!). If you’re ready for a pup who’s equal parts sweetness and silliness—and up for the rewarding journey of teaching him the ropes—Steve could be the perfect match for you!

Update:

Steve has been in our house for a week now and we have all settled in with one another. Poor little guy, he has lost 5 teeth within 5 days! He's definitely loving ice cubes and that is his go to play thing especially in the evening. He loves running around in our fenced in backyard. He is FAST. We are working on recall, as he will run from me when I try to get him in the house. But success!....we realized he loves string cheese, so 'yes' and 'snack' brings him in the house I'd say 75% of the time. Puppy nipping continues but we remove him from the room for a bit to decompress and this helps upon his return. And the big change/success is that now Steve will cuddle with me in the evening. He loves a good soft blanket! Stay tuned as Steve continues his puppy journey.
