Stellaluna is a dog of 'S's -
Sweet - she's a playful gentle girl. She loves to say hi to everyone we encounter and is always friendly.
Snuggly - she loves to curl up on the couch near (or on) you and snooze.
Submissive - Stellaluna is a gentle girl and takes treats very gently. She's can get excited for play, but never gets aggressive. She's made friends with all the dogs we've met so far.
Stubborn - she can be a bit willful. Planting herself on the ground and not moving.
Skittish - she's still young and is a bit apprehensive of some things. Loud noises or quick movements on night walks (when it's dark outside) can frighten her.
Here's a real sweetheart of a dog. Stellaluna is just a big ol' cuddlebug. Her intelligence and sweet demeanor will make you think she's full grown, but she's still growing and still learning. She's only seven months old, but already over 50 lbs!
Stellaluna has gotten into a good routine and is learning fast: can sit and shake and will go into her kennel (with a treat to coax her) just fine. She'll keep herself entertained with a chew toy when you're busy/not around. She goes for walks 3-4 times a day generally, but also may get a potty break additionally because she's still learning.
She loves to be around people and play and get pets - her super long tail starts wagging as soon as you get within earshot. But when left alone, she's very good about settling down and waiting for your return. She sleeps through the night in her kennel - sometimes with a little crying to start, but if you sit near her for a few minutes, she'll be just fine.
She's been well behaved when brought to work with us. Gets a bit excited by the people (and sometimes other office dogs), but will stay put with me at my desk working. She's happy to hang out with a chew toy and wait for her next potty break.
Puppy stuff
Stellaluna is still a puppy though and is working on things -
She's 90% potty trained. She knows that outside is the place to go, but can get excited or scared and have a pee accident inside (never a poo).
Cars - she's gotten good about getting in the car on her own, but initially was very hesitant to get in. She's still a bit nervous while driving, but improving.
She's overall very good with leash walking and has quickly gotten the hang of stopping at intersections and sitting until we're ready to cross. Needs to continue working on this though as she will get stubborn and sit/pull back a times when she doesn't feel like moving or conversely pull forward for small critters she wants to meet (at >50lbs she can pull pretty well!).
She loves people so much and just wants to kiss them, so jumping up is something she's still working on.
Stella would be a great addition to a family that has time to focus on her additional training needs. She'll be a great big(ger) dog one day, but still needs to focus on some fundamentals at the moment. Given her friendly demeanour, she'd do well with kids or other dogs in the house. She may be good with cats, but unsure. Her current home has a cat, but they've been kept apart for the most part. Stellaluna has been curious about the cat and they have interacted - mostly just sniffs and stares, but she has attempted to chase the cat once as well.
