Splotch found his family on September 26, 2020! Congrats to the little guy.
Splotch is a calm and gentle guy who learns quickly. He was scared of everything when he first got into foster care and spent his days hiding in a corner under a desk, but as he's learned to feel safe with his foster family he's learned to love going on runs in the mornings and playing by himself with his toys at home. Splotch has a few dog friends in the neighborhood, and he loves to play with them in their backyards.
He is always in the same room with his foster family, and if there's a chance to cuddle he takes it. Splotch loves to lean up against his people. Splotch is a hit on walks and is really good at meeting strangers.
Splotch does not have a backyard at his foster home, so he goes for two long walks a day and either plays with a dog friend or goes on a run. He has responded well to leash training and could be a really good leash walker with continued training, but right now he can be a freight train when he sees a squirrel outside. When his foster family is , he is really chill and either takes naps or occupies himself with his chew toys. Splotch isn't great at playing with toys with humans (he doesn't like to tug or fetch), but he loves chewing on toys and gathering them in the room his foster parents are in. He has chewed a couple of our rugs because his favorite type of toy is one he can shred with his front teeth, but he always does it right in front of us he never sneaks away and gets up to no good on his own.
This guy absolutely loves other dogs! When he was scared in the beginning being around other dogs is what got him to gain more confidence. He gets crazy energy with other dogs and jumps up and spins, but he is always very gentle and is very intuitive. He knows to leave other dogs alone when they don't want to play with him. He would do really well with a dog sibling.
Splotch has been left alone crated and uncrated and he does well with both. We usually find him among the pillows in the comfiest place possible when we get home because he's not getting out of his comfy nest to greet us when we get back!
He lives downtown and will sometimes bark when people walk by his windows, but not too often. It's a cute bark that usually ends with a howl too so it's not too piercing.
Splotch didn't know any commands when he got into foster care with Fetch, but he has responded exceptionally well to clicker training and now knows sit, down, come, and paw. He could learn lots more with a family willing to continue clicker training with him!
