Smokey found his people on May 29, 2021!

PUPATE 3

Smokey has earned the nickname of Smokey Bear because of his love to cuddle at night 🧸🥰

Also, as of this weekend he has graduated to all dry kibble, he no longer requires it to be watered down so his teeth seem to be better!

PUPDATE 2

Smokey has been continuing to settle in. His favorite things include taking walks, cuddling, and all things warm and cozy, including a good coat! He has been a sweet sidekick to his foster family’s dog.

(Ps- He is still preferring his kibble with a little warm water but he is able to eat solids including treats :))

PUPDATE 1

Smokey wakes up in his crate in the morning, goes outside, then eats breakfast. He likes to sniff around or cuddle in his bed for most of the day until about 5pm, when he goes back outside and eats dinner. After around 8pm, after one more trip outside, Smokey loves to chill on the couch.

Smokey can be nervous and bark around people at first but warms up very quickly once introduced. Once he gets to know you, he is a loving sweetheart who wants to give you kisses.

Though his interactions with children have been limited, Smokey seems to be similar with kids as he is with adults - somewhat timid at first, but then warms up. His small stature and few teeth helped ease his foster family's mind when it came to interacting with their neighbors' children.

Smokey has medium level energy and his exercise needs have been satisfied for the most part by sniffing around his foster home's yard several times a day, which he loves to explore. He also does well on a leash and likes to walk-- from a short walk around the block, to an hour-long trail walk.

Inside the home, Smokey has done very well with his foster dog sibling after getting used to the routine. Outside, he will bark at other dogs when he is fenced-in or on a leash but does well after meeting another dog. He does great meeting other dogs off-leash. Smokey does not live with cats.

Smokey was crated when left alone until he had adjusted to his foster home and routine. With some time and good behavior under his belt, he was allowed to roam free in a sectioned off area of his foster home.

Smokey absolutely loves blankets and will burrow himself entirely underneath an available blanket. Smokey recently had six teeth extracted and might need to have his kibble with some warm water at least temporarily. Smokey occasionally marks when other dogs are around, but this behavior has almost stopped as he’s settled in to his foster home.
