Updates

Skittles loves to spend his day by your side. He is the perfect work from home buddy! Taking conference calls from the couch? He'll snuggle up next to you for moral support. At your stand up desk? He'll snooze the day away waiting patiently for you to take a break or be done for the day. Skittles' biggest quirk is he needs a walk to go potty. He has been in foster care for several months, and refuses to poop at home -- he needs to walk about 10 minutes before he'll go. Otherwise, he will hold it for days, and eventually go in the house. With a daily walk, there have been no issues. We've let him free roam for up to 8 hours with no accidents.

Skittles loves meeting new people! When folks come into our home, he greets them with a few barks but he will not approach them or jump up. With commands, he will go to his bed and wait patiently for belly rubs from our guests. Skittles will alert you when a guest or package arrives but quickly settles down. Skittles does not have exposure to children.

Skittles tested positive for heartworm shortly after arriving to Wisconsin. As such, he's been on extremely limited activity throughout treatment. His treatment has finished and he's now allowed to slowly increase his daily activity. In the house, he loves to relax and be cozied up with his humans. He doesn't often reach for toys unless prompted by us. He loves to be outside and walk time is his favorite! He's a nose to the ground walker and does great on a leash. If he smells something really interesting, he may pull a bit to stay put or follow the sent. A simple "leave it" will typically redirect him. Skittles would love a fenced in yard to play fetch or tag with his humans.

When Skittles is on a walk with his favorite human, he is a bit reactive to other dogs passing by. We are working on correcting that behavior. When he is walking with anyone else, he seems interested in meeting other dogs but is fine to walk past them quietly. Skittles does not have exposure to cats.

Skittles can free roam when no one is around with no issues. He'll curl up on the couch and wait for you to get home.

Skittles would be a great road trip partner! He loves car rides and snacks. He is so sweet and loyal and he can't wait to find his forever family!
