SamBam (or Sam, Sammy, Samantha, and any other variation you can think of!) starts off the day with extended snuggles, breakfast and a morning or mid-morning walk. During the day, he lives for head scratches, climbing into your lap for Zoom calls, destroying stuffies and bones, and being told he's beautiful. In the evening, he has dinner and might lay outside with you, snuggle and watch TV, or go on another short walk.
SamBam is so great with people. He has very little stranger danger, and almost immediately leans in for scratches and pets with everyone he meets.
On walks, SamBam has met several children and cried every time he had to leave them. SamBam can look imposing because of his size and will occasionally jump up for toys, etc, but seems to genuinely love children as much as all humans and hasn't been too energetic to be around them, even in play mode.
SamBam came from a family that was entering a nursing home, and for a four year old Pittie mix he has very low energy and low exercise requirements: one 30 minute walk per day and a few tug of war/fetch sessions has been enough for him in foster (though he's done great with longer walks too). He is great on a leash with a harness and minimally pulls when he sees squirrels, other dogs, children, or anyone else who he wants desperately to meet.
SamBam was in foster with a very elderly and sick small dog, who he did a great job leaving alone (unless she curled up and fell asleep on his tail, and then he laid very still). Outside on walks, he is similarly great at matching the energy of other dogs, and generally wants to meet everybody; he even starts crying when he sees a dog across the street that he wants to meet!
SamBam has had no exposure to cats.
SamBam has shown a little bit of separation anxiety when left alone and free roaming, including trying to leave the house to find "his people" or hiding in the bathroom. It would be best to continue finding safe spaces for SamBam like his crate when he's left alone, though he is not destructive at all to himself or anything in the home if he's left free roaming.
SamBam is just a big mush of a dog, who wants to please and soak up attention. He would make a wonderful family dog!
SamBam tested positive for and was treated for Lyme disease; after completing treatment, he's begun showing off his more playful side.
