Updates
Rodney gets up around 7am and goes out for a potty break and sometimes a quick run around with our resident dog. We mostly work from home so he doesn't get crated during the day. We do contain him to our work area and he quickly settles down and just hangs out with us. We are able to give him regular potty breaks and quick play dates with our resident dog throughout the day. After the work day we go on about an hour long walk and then they get to play again in our fenced in yard. Following this he settles in nicely with us while we relax. His last potty break is typically around 10:00-10:30 and then he sleeps quietly in his crate until we get up the next day.
Rodney is an absolute love of a dog and is great with people. Sometimes his greetings are a little boisterous, but we are working on this. He absolutely loves to snuggle, give kisses and just be on a lap or near us when we are hanging out. He has a very curious nature and also sometimes follows us around the house when we are moving about. His tail is always wagging!
Rodney has not been exposed to children in our care. He is small in size and loves to be with people so I would anticipate him to be just fine with children, but would recommend supervision with really young children since his manners are a work in progress.
Rodney is still young and so he does show a need for regular exercise to help him be calm when he needs to be. We walk him daily for about an hour and he also gets short bouts of play with our resident dog throughout the day. This does help him settle so he can be calm in the house and focus when we work on training. Rodney is mostly good on a leash. He doesn't pull or try to bolt towards other dogs, but he is still learning the sights, sounds and smells of his new neighborhood and sometimes ends up underfoot from his curious nature. We are working on this and he gets better with each walk.
Rodney is great with other dogs. He is always in the mood to play if the other dogs are interested as well. He has met other dogs in the neighborhood on our walks and politely greets them. Rodney has not had exposure to cats in our care.
Rodney shows no signs of separation anxiety. He happily goes in his crate when we need to be gone and sleeps soundly in his crate through the night. I would not recommend letting him free roam at this time as he is showing a propensity for chewing things he shouldn't. We are working on "Leave-it".
Rodney was found as a stray and hasn't spent much time living in a house yet so his manners are limited. We are working on all the basics with him. He would do well in a home as an only dog or as a member of a pack. He is an absolute sweetheart of a pup that just loves his people and will provide you with an endless amount of snuggles. If a lifetime of snuggles is what you are looking for Rodney is your guy!
