Sailor found her family April 28, 2021!

Sailor begins the day with a breakfast that she earns through training practice, after which, she goes for a morning walk. While we are at work, Sailor remains in her kennel with a potty, eat, and play break at lunch time. In the evening, Sailor often goes on a 2-3 mile run/walk, plays in the backyard, and snoozes on the couch. She sleeps in her kennel from about 9:00 pm -6:00 am.

For the most part, Sailor does fantastically with other people. She loves meeting new friends and jumping up to give them kisses. There are times where Sailor is a little skittish when meeting new people, but once she spends some time with them and sees that they are safe, she warms up and shows her true colors.

At home with us, Sailor is our little shadow; she likes to follow us wherever we go. She doesn't always choose to snuggle up close with us, but if we pull her over, Sailor happily remains. This girl is also the easiest to please with pets. We get the classic "leg kicking joy" from her in multiple spots whenever we scratch her belly.

Sailor has only spent time with children over the age of 12 years old. With these kiddos, she warmed up very quickly and was a model puppy friend.

We've commented multiple times that Sailor is almost always perfectly reflecting our own energy level. When we want to sit around and chill, so will she. When we decide to be more active, Sailor’s there for that too! She loves chasing balls, running around the backyard, going on walks/runs, etc. Her leash walking skills have been getting better. We have been focusing on walking next to our side, and she is a pretty quick learner. Sailor is very food motivated! She also has been a pretty good running buddy. At times she will cross over into my path, but with more practice and training, she would do great!

Sailor loves playing with other dogs. She typically greets a new dog belly up and lets her new doggie friend sniff her. Moments later, she will be running around, chasing and wrestling with her new friend!

For the first couple of days after Sailor joined our household, we still had two other foster dogs. Sailor showed some resource guarding with food, toys, and treats. Because the dogs found their forever homes quickly after Sailor's arrival, we do not know if Sailor would have continued doing this as she eased into her new life here or not.  Sailor has not had any exposure to cats in our home.

When we are leaving for work, Sailor goes into her kennel without issue. While in here, she never has any accidents, and we don't typically hear her whine. If there is a blanket left on her kennel, she sometimes will drag it in with her, so we have stopped doing this.

Sailor has been a model student when it comes to training. In the week and a half we've had her, she has learned sit, down, stay, leave it, come, and look. Most of this learning is due to her being so smart, but also that she has been training in order to earn her meals. Sailor is a super-fast eater, so working for her food not only helps her learn these commands well, but it also helps her slow down with eating.

This girl is as sweet as they get and would be a loving and wonderful addition to your family!
