On a freezing January night, Roy’s journey to a better life began. I was driving my mother home from the airport when we spotted a terrified dog—not on a sidewalk, not in a neighborhood, but on the actual highway. We couldn’t leave him there; HE WOULD NOT HAVE SURVIVED. So, we brought him home, gave him warmth, care, and a second chance. We named him Roy.
Roy is a young Labrador mix with a heart full of love. He’s been fully vetted, vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped. He’s in excellent health and ready for his forever home!
Here’s why Roy will make an amazing companion:
✔️ Loving & Affectionate – He adores cuddles and being around people.
✔️ House & Potty Trained – He signals when he needs to go outside.
✔️ Well-Mannered – He knows how to sit and respects boundaries.
✔️ Gentle & Playful – A perfect mix of energy and calmness.
✔️ Great with Kids, Cats, and Other Dogs – He has been fostered in a home with children, small dogs, and even cats!
Roy was adopted May 2025. Congratulations to Roy and his new family!
Meet Roy! Roy came to Wisconsin from Texas where he was found freezing cold and terrified on the side of the highway on a cold night in January.
Despite this difficult start Roy is a very good boy that has wiggled his way into so many hearts including his foster mom in Texas and our family in Wisconsin.
Here is what you need to know about Roy:
✓ Potty trained - Roy is housebroken and will signal when he needs to go outside. He has never had an accident in our house.
✓ Crate trained - Roy happily hops into his crate (with a kong or chew toy) when left alone and sleeps through the night in his crate. He is quiet in his crate and has been left alone for about 4 hours. He may be able to be crated longer.
✓ Good with kids - Roy was fostered with kids in Texas and Wisconsin. He is friendly and affectionate with children and loves to play and snuggle with them. Roy can be enthusiastic with greetings and play and may knock over a small child.
✓ Loves being around people - Roy is a social dog who loves to be around his people. He will check around the house until he finds them and enjoys meeting new human friends on neighborhood walks.
✓ Ultimate snuggle pup - Roy is thrilled to snuggle with you, whether you are working on your laptop or watching a movie. He leans into people for pets and shows his belly for tummy rubs.
✓ Enjoys spending time outside - Roy enjoys going for a walk around the neighborhood or playing outside.
✓ Well mannered and intelligent - Roy knows how to sit for treats, toys, and his meals. He is figuring out treat puzzles and would benefit from basic obedience training to work on leash walking and body control.
✓ Good with other dogs and cats - Roy has been fostered with other dogs (in Texas) and cats (in Texas and Wisconsin). He enjoys playing with other dogs and is respectful to cats by allowing them to sniff him and not chasing them or focusing on them heavily.
Roy is a super sweet and special dog. He is a loveable goofball who would do well in a variety of homes and situations. Roy is ready to meet you and your family and wiggle into your hearts!
