PUPDATE 3
Rey continues to work on potty training and when he has an accident it is usually next to the back door. We are starting to use a bell on the door so he can ring it to indicate he needs to go out.
We have been taking him for a longer walk most mornings (about 3 miles) and he does well. We also often do a shorter walk (about a mile) either after lunch or after dinner.
Rey is jumpy and would do better with older children. We have been working on this with him to help him learn to keep his paws on the floor when he wants someone to pet him.
He still loves his food and feeding him in the kennel still helps with not spilling the food every where.
He is a very sweet puppy with lots of energy and lots of snuggles.
PUDPATE 2
Rey has been doing well and has learned to sit this week. He is very food motivated! We have also been going for a walk at night and he has been doing well on the leash.
We have started feeding him in the kennel which helps with him not dumping out the bowl.
He is enjoying the beautiful weather and loves to be outside!
PUDPATE 1
Rey sleeps in his kennel at night. He is usually up once in the middle of the night to go outside and rarely has an accident in the kennel at night. He goes right outside when getting up in the morning and then eats breakfast. He has play time while we are getting ready for work and school and goes out again before being kenneled while we are at work at school. We do work from home so he is in the kennel for about 3 hours at a time before being let out to go potty and have more play time.
Rey has done very well meeting new people. He loves everyone he has met. He does jump when greeting people and is very excited both inside and outside.
Rey has not been around young children. He currently lives in a house with a 12 and 14 year old and does great with them. The 12 year old said the most frustrating thing about him is that he does nip. He has also met some neighborhood teens and has done well with all of them.
Rey is very energetic and love to play. He will needs lots of toys and playtime to help him not get into trouble.
Rey loves to play with his littermate and our 7 year old lab. He wrestles and chases them which wears him out. He has also met two neighborhood dogs and showed no aggression or other issues. Rey has no exposure to cats in his foster home.
Rey is crated when he is alone. He does well in the crate.
Rey was hospitalized with parvo late April/early May. Supportive care was provided and he was discharged after about a week at the emergency vet. Once a dog clears parvo symptoms, there is no risk of them coming back (as long as the dog remains vaccinated). Shortly following adoption, you may need to be a bit cautious where you bring your pup as they could still be shedding the virus for a short time following the resolution of symptoms.
Rey is a very typical puppy who will need someone to take time with him to train him. He does chew on things (couch, table leg, area rug etc.) but when you give him a toy he will chew on that instead.
Rey loves food and is very energetic when eating. He loves to carry his food bowl around and will dump it out while eating and drinking. He would do better with a heavy ceramic bowl for food and water.
Rey is a playful puppy who loves people and dogs. When he is done playing he loves to snuggle. He will be a great addition to a family.
