Officially adoption on Valentine’s Day!

A typical day for Ratatouille is getting up around 6:30 am to go potty then eating breakfast, playing with the kids and the cats, begging for food. Throughout the day, he is fairly quiet and mostly stays in the office with foster mom who works from home.  Ratatouille will nap, play with chew toys or sit in foster mom's lap. A typical walk is 1-2 blocks max.  He does not like to walk if there is salt on the sidewalks and is not a fan of the cold. In the evening, he plays with the kids, eats and goes to be in his kennel around 9:30 pm and sleeps through the night (though would prefer to sleep with foster mom).

Ratatouille does well with people. At times, he is playful and he will run away when you try to pick him up thinking that you are playing with him. Once held, Ratatouille will lick a lot, playfully bite and then fall asleep. He does great with our 5 and 11 year old. He has done fine when we see other people on walks and with visitors. Ratatouille may bark when he sees someone out the window/door but once they are in he is quiet, likely wanting to play.

He does really great with kids and has been around 3 year old, 5 year old and a 11 year old. He sometimes does a playful bite and jump up begging to be picked up or held. He loves to cuddle! When kids get excited playing with him, Ratatouille may bark with excitement.

Ratatouille is low to medium energy. He likes to zoom around the house in the morning. He is not a fan of the cold but will go for 1-2 block walk (end up carrying him for part). Ratatouille does not seem to understand the leash- with no leash will follow right by foster mom's legs, but with leash trips on it and gets caught up in it but does not pull.  An adopter will need to help continue with leash training.

He has seen other dogs on walks- from a distance he will bark but once up close is somewhat shy and will sniff the other dogs. Another larger pup tried to engage him in play and Ratatouille just wanted to be held by foster mom.

Ratatouille does really well with our cats who are aged 20 and 14. One of the cats tries to play and chase him and he will yelp and beg to be picked up. Otherwise, he is playful with them and they mostly ignore him. Cats will eat from his food dish and he will either nudge them out of the way.

He has done okay when we have left him for short periods except for that he has missed the potty pads when going potty if out of the crate. We have also left him in the crate for an hour or two when we ran errands.  He whines a little at first but then settles in for a nap. If we are home, he prefers to be always right by his people especially his foster mom.

The vet noted a heart murmur however no signs of congestive heart failure were found. It’s recommended adopters talk with their vet prior to adoption. Ratatouille might outgrow this heart murmur or it might be present his entire life. He sprained his tail after a fall but is recovering well.

Ratatouille would make a lovely addition to a family.  He would love to be around his people as much as possible. He seems to get along with other animals including our guinea pigs (he took one's carrot and that guinea pig walked over and took it back). He likes to play and is a typical puppy who also likes to nap often. Ratatouille barks at noises/window when he sees other dogs or humans but his bark is pretty adorable. He has loved coming with to pick up the kids and loves to climb in to foster mom's coat when on a walk or outside.
