Updates
On a typical day, Pippa goes outside first thing in the morning and potties. She loves our fenced-in backyard and the outdoors; she runs and runs and loves to find sticks! She'll come running to the door when I coax her with "treat.” She is working on the command “sit” to receive her treat. She eats her breakfast (she loves food!!), plays in her puppy pen, and falls asleep for a couple of hours in her crate. She wakes up, goes outside for potty, eats, plays, and sleeps. We are working on her mouthiness with positive reinforcement and have seen progress.
She loves playing with our resident Golden and the other Goldens in our extended family. They will play with her and put her in her place if she gets rambunctious. She has not met dogs outside of our extended family. Pippa is learning to walk on a lead and she loves her walks.
Pippa is a high energy pup. She is a typical puppy working on life skills, particularly not chomping on everything she sees. She has not met any kids, but because of her puppy mouthiness and very sharp teeth, we recommend she does not go to a home with young kids. Other than the vet, Pippa has not met people outside our extended family. She does great with all family members taking in to consideration she's a mouthy puppy.
When Pippa tries to nip or jump, she gets redirected to a toy to reinforce the good behavior we want to see. If she gets overstimulated, we will put her in her crate or puppy pen to let her calm down.
She lived with a cat for the first several weeks of her life and did fine with him. The cat knew how to put the puppies in their place if they played too rough.
We are working on potty training as she is still a young puppy. She pees in her crate overnight, but does not poop in it. Other than that, she's great in her crate.
