PUPDATE #2

Pansy is really learning a lot! While she is definitely a ‘people’ dog, she has really grown to like her dog buddy, Smitty. They eat side-by-side, play with toys together, and she loves to mirror his “tricks” for a treat. (She shows no signs of food or treat aggression.) Pansy’s favorite thing is still kids, though! She loves snuggling with her people, young and old, and will still choose them over another dog every time.

Pansy has learned to go up and down stairs, sit, lay down, and open doors with lever-handles with her nose! She is so smart and observant. Pansy also loves chew toys, and like many Golden Retrievers, she enjoys ripping the squeakers out of toys. We continue to work on walking on a leash, ringing a bell to go outside, and other basic commands.

PUPDATE #1

Pansy likes to get up when you get up. She then eats next to her resident dog without issue, and enjoys some time in the fenced-in yard. Pansy then spends most of her day next to her WFH human, and lounging outside. She never gets too far from her humans, and loves snuggling with the kids when then get home from school. After dinner, Pansy goes to bed, sleeping on the floor in one of her humans’ bedrooms.

Pansy loves every human she meets! She really likes kids, but is quite low energy. She will play fetch and loves toys, but prefers snuggling and watching her humans vs. crazy play. She loves being pet, and will walk up to everyone she meets hoping for a pat!

Pansy is excellent with children of all ages.

Pansy is lower energy. She will fetch and loves chew toys! She is not used to walking on a leash, and is working on getting better!

Pansy does not seem to understand dog play. She does fine passing other dogs while out and about. She’s not protective of food or toys, but she does not seem to have a desire to interact with other dogs. She is fine with her resident dogs in the house (we did a very slow introduction, as this is a new arrangement for her), but they do not play with her and respect her space. She is a human-focused dog, and is just happy being with her people!

Pansy lives with 2 cats and has no issues! She sniffs them when they pass by and would probably snuggle with them if they were into that, but mostly ignores them.

Pansy does not like being placed in a crate. She prefers to sleep on the floor near her people, and likes to free roam. Luckily, that’s not much of a problem! She usually chooses toys when available, but has found a couple kid toys she mistook for her toys. She does not spend a lot of time alone, but has been left to free roam for up to 8 hours only a couple of times.

Pansy does well in a car, but she does not like car rides. She usually has to be placed in the vehicle, and will lay nicely but does not relax or enjoy the ride. She would do best in a home with someone who works from or is home much if the day. She is a great dog for a family or individual, and would be an excellent dog for a first time dog owner in a single dog home. While she is doing really well with her resident siblings, living with other dogs would require a more experienced family due to this being a newer living situation for her. She is house-trained, but doesn’t tell you when she has to go outside. She has had a couple accidents where previous incidents have occurred, but covering the spot has rectified the problem. She is really smart, and learns quickly! She loves watching you do things around the house. Overall, she is a great dog that is easy to fall in love with!
