Oso is a big pile of love! He absolutely loves people, and all the attention and belly rubs you want to give him. He will sit right at your feet and lean against you – sometimes melting onto the ground for a belly rub. Oso is a medium energy dog who needs a good amount of exercise (he is still a young pup!) but will happily chill with you on the couch, sometimes with his head (or body!) in your lap, or on the floor near you.
Oso wakes up when you get him up – typically between 6am-7am. He sleeps all night in his crate without a peep. When I am getting ready, I put him back in his crate. Then back out for breakfast followed by a morning walk and some time in the yard. During the workday, he will play with toys, chew on a hard chew, like a Benebone, and nap. He gets let outside a couple of times for potty breaks and fresh air. If needed, I will put him in a crate for a bit. In the evening, Oso gets a long walk, dinner, more playing with toys and running around the yard. I let him out one last time before bed, around 10:30pm, and he gets a toothbrush treat in his crate. Oso does occasionally snore, but it’s pretty cute!
Oso is fantastic in his crate. He may need a little coaxing to go in, but a treat certainly helps. He does not whine or bark. Oso has never had an accident in the house and seems completely potty trained. He has had no marking behaviors. Oso loves going for walks and I have found the Easy Walk harness to be the best to deter pulling. He is a strong dog! I have been working on the “easy” command with him to slow down if he starts to pull and he is doing well.
Oso’s prior sitters reported that he did great with their dogs. I have two older resident dogs who don’t like to play anymore, and he is starting to understand that and overall has been respectful. He gets confused sometimes and thinks they want to play but they may tell him otherwise and he backs down. My neighbors have two golden retrievers and they bought them over to play in my yard and Oso had an absolute blast with them! Oso would love a sibling who likes to play as much as he does. I think he would be fine as an only dog so long as he gets proper socialization through doggy daycare, playdates, dog parks, etc. Playing with another dog seems to be one of his favorite things.
Oso has not been exposed to cats in my care. He did meet some neighbor kids who were on the other side of my fence and did great with them. He leaned up on the fence to get as many pets as he could. He is super friendly and loves anyone who will give him attention! While Oso has not jumped up on us, he is a big dog and not aware of his size so I would be cautious with him around very young children for this reason.
Oso is a very sweet, loving and smart dog. He knows “sit” and “lay down” and I am working on “easy” when pulling, “wait”, and “let’s go” to keep him moving along on walks if lingering too long. He loves treats and is happy to learn to further his training. Oso can’t wait to meet you!
