Oscar is woken up around 6:00 am every morning for his first potty. He is currently residing in an apartment in a semi-busy neighborhood with lots of outside noise. He usually has to be carried outside as he will sit down in protest when the leash is on. Once he's outside, he will do his business right away and be ready to head back inside for breakfast. After breakfast and a quick 15-30 minute play/cuddle session, Oscar will go on his first walk of the day around 6:30-7:00 am. He's made huge progress with leash walking in a very short time and I have no doubt he will continue to do so! He's no longer afraid of passing cars, but if he sees oncoming humans and/or dogs, he will usually sit down at your feet and observe until they pass. However, if he spots a squirrel or bunny, he'll try to chase it. Though he's more acclimated now to the sights and sounds of a busy neighborhood, Oscar would best transition to a home with a yard where he can do his business and get some outdoor time alone or with other house pets.
After his morning walk, Oscar will chill on the ground, in his bed, or in his crate with the door open while his humans are working. He loves his crate and has never made a fuss or whined about being in there. He doesn't always sleep right away but give him a bone or a toy and he will entertain himself until he dozes off. Oscar gets taken out every few hours during the day so he can empty his bladder, but he has had a few accidents in the house. This is best avoided with frequent potty breaks and making sure he's taken out right away when he wakes up from a nap.
Oscar goes on another walk around the block later in the day and enjoys lots of playtime in the evenings. He's gotten the hang of fetch, though you have to work to get the toy back from him! In typical puppy fashion, he gets mouthy with his humans when he gets riled up and will nibble on anything when he's bored. He will need training and toy time to reinforce that his human’s fingers and toes are not toys! Oscar will often get the zoomies in the evening and have his humans laughing out loud as a runs between rooms and under beds/couches. Once he's worn out, Oscar will lay on the couch for the evening and give lots of affection and puppy cuddles. He's gets his last potty break at around 10:00 pm. After that, he'll go into his crate without issue and sleep through the night.
Oscar is very sweet dog and will become best friends with any human once he spends a little time with them. He is more comfortable meeting humans in a familiar space where he feels safe, though he will allow humans to pet him while out on walks as well. He is timid to start but just needs some time to warm up to people. Oscar has met one 3-year-old child and was very gentle with her. He's generally very mellow and submissive, and he did not react when the child got in his face or wanted to grab him.
Oscar is a medium-high energy puppy and needs at least two walks per day and plenty of play time. He may need fewer walks if he has a yard to romp around in and get some of that energy out. Oscar improves every day with leash walking but will still need some training and positive reinforcement to show him that walking outside is fun and doesn't have to be scary! He's taken huge strides in his short time with his foster humans and will more than likely continue to improve with age and experience.
Oscar has a cat in his foster home and has been very sweet with her. He can get a little excited but will usually not touch and will back off when he's corrected by the kitty. Oscar has been great with other dogs as well when they've met in a comfortable atmosphere. He is very curious and will initiate play time with his doggy friends. Oscar would quickly acclimate to a home with other dogs or cats.
Oscar is typically crated when he's alone in the house but has done well when left to free roam for short 15-minute outings. He is still a puppy so you can expect him to get into things he's not supposed to if he's left unsupervised for too long.
Oscar is a funny, sweet, and snuggly little guy who would be a great fit for a variety of homes. He will thrive with his own outdoor space and be a great addition to a loving family!
