Hi, I’m Oliver! You may have already heard about me when I channeled the Great Pyrenees side of me and took myself on a week-and-a-half long solo camping adventure the night I arrived here from Texas, but I’ve put that behind me now and hope you’ll allow me to reintroduce myself properly! I’m a 1-year-old lab mix on paperwork, but the hoomans I’m currently hanging out with are convinced I’m part Great Pyrenees, too. I’m a gentle giant (with a voracious appetite) who is ready to embark on hopefully my last new adventure with you, my new forever family!
Oliver is a sweet and affectionate boy who thrives on human companionship. He's incredibly loyal and forms strong bonds with his caregivers. This was evident from the moment he was delivered to me the morning he was caught from his adventure. He was very shy and hesitant, apprehensive of coming out of the trap he traveled in - until I went into the house to grab some treats! Oliver was out of the trap and right behind me. He doesn’t have any separation anxiety, and is perfectly content on his own, but he absolutely loves spending his days in the same room as his people. Honestly, he’d probably rather spend his day in someone’s lap, but he settles just fine for a rug, bed, or blanket nearby. He sleeps in a crate overnight and spends any time home alone crated as well, though his Texas foster did give him free-roaming privileges of the house and he reportedly did fine there, too.
Oliver has been very curious about new people, giving a polite sniff and lots of tail wags, but he does tend to be shy upon initial meetings. He walks well on leash, but he tends to be shy and timid, sticking close to his people. Given his timidity and his recent adventure, he is not suited for busy downtown living. He is currently living in a multi-dog foster home in the country and getting more and more brave every day, but he’s becoming accustomed to farm equipment, not downtown traffic. A quiet suburban neighborhood would also suit him! He’d say a fenced yard and canine sibling are bonus points, but neither are requirements for his lifelong happiness. He currently enjoys leisurely walks around our property, playtime in the yard, and cuddling up for movie nights.
Oliver is seeking a forever home that can provide him with the security and love he deserves. He thrives on routine and would benefit from a patient and understanding family who can help him continue to build his confidence. Oliver is a large breed with the heart of a gentle giant, and he needs plenty of space to stretch his legs and explore. If you're ready to give him the loving home he's been searching for, he’d love to meet you - in time! His unique journey has made him a resilient and loving companion, and he's eager to find his forever family and start the next chapter of his life with you.
