Updates

Officially adopted December 9, 2020!

Missy is usually in her crate until 6 am, then a quick bathroom break and then often back to bed a bit longer, sometimes with a college student human. A nice one mile walk to start the day is ideal. She will lie at our feet when working, but she likes being in the kitchen when I am doing meal prep, which in our house is open concept. Midday quick walk and evening walk again. Missy is usually with us for relaxation in our den at night, would prefer to be on our couch, but we have been trying (not always successfully) to keep off the furniture. She sometimes sneaks into someone's bed but does well in crate for 6-8 hours at night.

She is wonderful with people both inside and outside. If people act with excited voices, she will jump at first meet upon meeting them, but a firm “no” has diminished that behavior. She has no aggressive behavior towards anyone. Only a strong tail wag!

Missy has been very good with children down to age 8. She has had no exposure to children younger than that.

She is medium to high energy, but after a good walk in the morning and evening, she can Netflix and chill with the best of them. She does pull a bit on a leash, but we are working with her on that. I can let her off the leash in a field and she responds quite well to voice command.

Missy loves playing with the young ones and will try to play with older dogs but generally knows when to back off.  She is curious and playful with our cat but will back off when advised by the cat.

She is quite good! I crated her for the first week, but she can certainly free roam. I have not left her alone in house for more than 4 hours when away, as I want to be sure she is completely potty-trained. In that situation, I crate her. She had two accidents upon arrival, but I think that was due to fluid issues after long drive from Texas and her requiring hydration. She does not chew on anything other than her toys.

Missy is a delight and in two weeks has really adapted to our family lifestyle!
