Updates

Meg starts her day by being let out of her crate anywhere from 6:15 am during the week to 7:15 on weekends. She happily receives a few belly rubs and zooms  and snuggles then goes outside for a potty break. She spends about 30 min playing or snuggling. She's not too interested in eating right away but will eagerly take a peanut butter filled kong when she's goes back in her crate for the morning. During the week she is crated during the day while we're gone. She is let out for a potty break mid day and then goes on a long walk or run in the late afternoon.

Meg loves to be around people. She gets excited when she meets new people outside the home and will jump up but responds well to redirection and a calming presence.

She is great with our 9 and 7 year old children and will meet their energy level whether it be relaxed or playful. She will steal shoes, hats or mittens left unattended and has a hard time giving them up but offering her a belly rub will often get her to let go of possessions.

During the week Meg gets a 20-30 min walk and that seems sufficient. She does great on a leash when but when she's walking in a group, she tends to pull and get overexcited. During the weekend and periodically throughout the week she accompanies us on a 2-4 mile run and is a great running buddy. She'll spend most of the day resting or napping, especially if there's sun shining in!

Meg is the only dog in our household but she is eager to meet other dogs when out on a walk. She has not had exposure to cats while in our care.

Meg is crated for most of the day during the week or when we cannot watch her closely while we're at home and she's not napping.

Meg was positive for Anaplasmosis, a tick-borne disease, but is not showing any clinical signs. A positive result for Anaplasmosis just indicates antibodies to this bacteria, not necessarily active infection. Per our rescue protocol, she is currently being given a round of antibiotics.

Meg is the sweetest dog and responds well to training. She loves to snuggle with anyone available but also has a fun time zooming around the house playing with kids. She still has the occasional potty accident in the house but this seems to happen when we're distracted and have forgotten to let her out for a few hours.
