McGee was adopted January 2025, congratulations McGee and new family!

McGee is a happy, adventurous, and snuggly dog. He is a 1 year old shepherd mix who loves getting pets, snuggles, and being near his humans. He is a low to medium-energy dog, he enjoys a good walk, or some brief zoomies in the backyard and then is ready to find a comfy place to nap inside or a toy to chew on. He is a great, well-rounded dog looking for his forever home.

McGee has done great with every dog he has met. He loves zooming around the yard with his new dog friends for a lap or two. He has interacted with both high-energy and low-energy dogs and did great with both. He takes corrections from bossy dogs well.

McGee is currently living with 4 cats and does amazing with them. He has mostly ignored them and will give them the occasional sniff or lick if they get close enough to him.

McGee hasn’t met any small humans but is respectful of space and calm and gentle with all the adults he has met. McGee does like to jump up to say hello to his humans. His foster family is working on teaching him that this is not how he should say hello, but he will likely need some reminders in his forever home as well. He loves being near his humans and being included in whatever they are doing.

McGee has rarely barked since arriving at his WI foster home. The first couple of days he would bark a little if he was restless in his crate, but settled down quickly. Now that he has been here about a week he doesn’t make any noise in his crate.

McGee sleeps in his crate at night and when we aren’t home. He is great about going into his crate for a treat and is happy to settle down for a nap right away. McGee does like to chew on things and should be crated to keep him safe while his humans are away.

McGee is fully house-trained and hasn't had any accidents inside with us. He has done great with holding it until he is let outside and then goes potty right away in the yard.

McGee loves playing with dog toys of all kinds and will also find and chew on things that are not toys, like shoes and pillows if given the chance. He is easily redirected to appropriate toys an does not mind at all when we take his treasures away.

McGee is great about eating his meals right away and also likes treats. He is a gentle treat-taker and is calm around food and treats too.

McGee would be a great dog for a house or apartment. He would be a wonderful companion for a beginner or experienced dog owner.
