Meet Max! Max comes from Louisiana where he was found running in traffic and hopped right into his rescuer’s van. As soon as he got up to Wisconsin, he jumped into my driver’s seat and was ready to drive us home. After a bit of coaxing, he agreed he was better as copilot and sat nicely and stared out the window for our trip.
Max loves people. I've never seen a tail wag faster than when Max spots a new friend. When you give him pets, he loves to lean into you, and if you let him, he’ll crawl right into your lap. He can be a bit enthusiastic when it comes to greeting new people, so he may need help remembering to keep all paws on the ground.
Max is a medium-energy dog, who is content after a walk and some playtime. So far, his favorite toy is the flirt pole. Which is interesting because Max hasn't displayed any prey drive. He lives wonderfully with two cats, who he mostly ignores. He also does well with dogs and would enjoy living with another dog but would do well as a solo dog too.
Max is crated overnight and whenever I’m out of the house. He’s quiet in the crate and happily snoozes until you’re ready to hang out again. We’ve been working on some basic commands and so far, Max knows to wait until he hears "break" to come out of his crate, exit the front door or eat his food. He also knows “sit” and “kennel”. Max walks well on leash with a harness.
Max can't wait to find a new family that he can shower with affection. He was a shelter favorite, and it's easy to see why!
