Happily ever after for Magee on February 27, 2021!
Magee wakes up around 6am and is so excited to see his foster family! He goes outside right away, then about three more times throughout the day. He mostly naps around the house with someone very nearby (preferably in a lap!). He'll play a few times per day for 5 or 10 minutes and enjoys getting a Kong treat toy. He loves going for a walk or two per day if it's warm enough.
Magee is a little bit shy at first but warms up quickly and generally likes new people. He has not interacted with children while in our care, but Magee’s previous foster home had 2 little boys and he did well with them.
He is fairly low energy and would be happy napping most of the day! Magee does enjoy chasing after toys at home though and loves walks. He is a good little walker on a leash - doesn't pull and will happily trot right behind you.
Magee lived most of his life with another male Shih Tzu and they got along well.
Since we have had him, Magee is friendly towards new dogs from afar but scared when they are up close (he has only met one, though). He will try to run away or go back to his owner, but he is not aggressive or reactive. Magee has no exposure to cats.
He does not enjoy being left alone. Magee gets sad and will whine for a while when left alone.
The vet noted some tartar accumulation. Adopters should anticipate a dental visit in the next 1-2 years.
Magee is a great little pup who would be a good companion for someone who is home often and wants lots of snuggles throughout the day. He really loves his "people" and sticks close by the side of his owners and would prefer to nap in a lap at all times if he could - a true lap dog!
