PUPDATE #2

Lulu is enjoying learning new interactions with us. She enjoys handshakes and spins followed by a nice treat. After a nice walk, she really loves laying with us on the sofa with her fav chew toy followed by belly rubs and a nap.

She enjoys people watching while we sit on a bench in public areas, she's very curious. We're really enjoying her company and think she's a wonderful companion.

PUPDATE #1

Lulu sleeps beside us in her own bed. When we all decide to get up, we take her out for a short potty break before starting our day. The day is filled with several walks in the neighborhood, a possible trip in the car to a pet store, naps, and belly rubs.

Lulu is social with people both inside and outside our home. She loves meeting people and people love meeting her.

Lulu has had no exposure to children.

Lulu is a high energy companion who does well with playing with toys and several walks during the day. She handles her leash well.

We don't have any other dogs in our home and her interactions with dogs outside our home have been limited.

Lulu has had no exposure to cats.

We haven't left Lulu alone since some one in our family is always home.

Lulu was positive for heartworm, but was not showing any clinical signs. A positive result for heartworm just indicates antibodies to this bacteria, not necessarily active infection. Per our rescue protocol, she is was given a round of antibiotics. Heartworm treatment was hard on Lulu, and as a result, she was left with scar tissue on her lungs. This means, with exercise, she can have periods of coughing. At this time, Lulu has only self-imposed exercise restrictions, and this will be something to continue monitoring with your veterinarian.

Lulu is a sweet companion who thrives with play, walks, and belly rubs.
