Updates

Joy is happy to announce she has a family as of August 7, 2020.

Joy is an incredibly easy dog! She loves walks and playing fetch with squeak toys and tennis balls, but otherwise is low energy. Joy is housebroken, quiet, and hasn't been destructive with anything that's not hers. After her morning walk and breakfast, she likes to relax on her bed with a chew or a ball.

She hasn't had any interactions with babies while I've watched her and only limited interactions with small children (ages 5-10 years old), but she's done well each time. When guests visit, she can get a bit excited and jump a little, but she has been friendly hand comfortable with everyone she's met. She is very gentle taking treats.

Joy is low energy. She pulls a little on walks and likes to play fetch with tennis balls, but otherwise she'd be happy to spend most of the day sleeping if you let her. She is a little overweight so she'd like to find a family that can encourage her to exercise. The vet is looking have her lose 12 pounds.

She does well with dogs for the most part, though she has had some unfriendly interactions with my dog when guarding some of her favorite toys. She hasn't shown any defensiveness with her toys around humans.  Aside from that she gets along with my resident dog, though isn't very playful. On walks, she doesn't pay too much attention to the other dogs she sees.  Joy hasn’t been around cats yet but can get cat tested by Fetch if needed.

Joy has no problem being left alone. Her very first night she whined a little but otherwise hasn't barked, chewed things that aren't hers, or demonstrated other unwanted behaviors.

Joy would make a great pet for a beginning dog owner!
