January 25 marks Jareau’s adoption day :)

Jareau’s days usually consist of waking up around 7 am, going potty and having breakfast followed by a nap. She has a few periods of playfulness followed by more naps. She is super snuggly at night before going into her crate for bedtime. She typically only goes out once in the middle of the night for potty, and then right back in her crate until morning.

She is great with everyone in her foster home, and has been excellent with our kids, ages 5 and 8. She has met a few adults and kids outside of our family and greets them happily.

Jareau is great with kids and will snuggle into their laps when she's calm. She has been tolerant of the kids handling her. She also is fine with the kids playing with or near her while she's eating. Jareau gets pretty mouthy when she's in a playful mood, so we've been working with her on that, but she needs more training in this area. We keep her away from the kids when she gets really mouthy.

She seems to have medium to high energy, and goes nonstop until she wears herself out. She hasn't been loving walks, but we get her to at least walk around the yard a few times a day. She spends most of her energy wrestling with her toys, tugging a rope, and running full speed around the living room!

Jareau hasn't had much exposure to other dogs, but from how she has reacted to hearing other dogs barking, we think she may need some slow intros. Twice while on short walks around the neighborhood, she has just stopped and sat when she heard or saw another dog. She refused to walk further, and we ended up turning around and going back home.  She has not met a cat in her foster home.

She does well in her crate when we leave the house. She may whine for a few minutes, but if we put on some music, she settles down quickly. Jareau can get pretty loud when she's whining in her crate so an apartment might not work.  If we crate her during the day while we're in the house, it takes her more time to settle down, but we think it’s because she can hear us, and she would much rather be near her humans!

Jareau is the sweetest cuddle bug! She will crawl into your lap and curl up at the end of each day! She also much prefers being around her foster family and tends to follow us wherever we go.
