PUPDATE 3
Hector has settled into our home well. He has learned his daily routine quickly and can’t wait for walks or meal times. He’s very food motivated which makes training much easier.
He is warming up to his foster dad. While he still prefers to be his foster mom’s shadow, he now visits his dad in the basement during the work day for pets and treats.
We think Hector is the best of both worlds: he is a great adventure buddy and is always down for some exercise, but is also perfectly content lounging around so long as he can be close to his humans.
Hector can’t wait to meet you!
PUPDATE 2
Hector continues to come out of his shell every day.
Hector met a few new people this past week. He is still wary and barked during the initial introduction, but warmed up very quickly and ended up snuggling with our guests. He loved all of the attention and pets!
Hector also learned to “shake” this week and is so proud of himself! He will shake any opportunity he gets, he can’t wait to show you!
His favorite part of the day is going on walks. He runs straight to the front door when he hears the word “walk” and gets so excited when he sees his leash and collar. We are still working on leash manners - he gets very easily distracted by new sniffs and walks as fast as possible out of excitement.
Hector can’t wait to meet you!
PUDPATE 1
Hector is a big goofball. He has lots of puppy energy and loves to play as often as possible.
He’s earned the title of “instigator” in our house as he loves to taunt our resident dogs with toys or nudge them with his snout to get them to play. He would do well in a home with other dogs to keep him company.
He can be a bit mouthy, so he would do best in a home with adults or older kids.
Since Hector has a lot of energy, he does best with regular exercise. He enjoys his morning and evening walks and is super intrigued by everything around him - bikes, people, new sniffs, etc. We are working on basic leash manners, but overall he does pretty well on leash. He also loves to be chased and is learning how to play fetch!
Hector definitely has some classic German Shepherd antics. He makes his presence known when guests enter our home, but settles down quickly.
Hector seems to gravitate towards women and has become his foster mom’s shadow. He does seem to show hesitation towards men (no aggression), but is slowly learning to trust his foster dad.
Hector’s future family will need to be patient as it may take time for him to get comfortable.
He does well roaming the house during the day, but also has no problem being in his kennel. He prefers to be as close as possible to his humans when they’re around, so be prepared for lots of snuggles and kisses!
