Officially adopted on October 15, 2020!

Sweet, snuggle bug, Hayden is ready to find his forever family.  He had a pretty rough start to life, finding himself homeless in Texas. After catching his transport to Wisconsin and some time to settle into his foster home, he is now ready to find the loving family he so deserves.

Hayden starts his day with potty and playtime with the other dogs in our home. After breakfast he will either play some more or snuggles in with foster mom for a bit.  He is crated while the humans work, with a couple breaks throughout the day and he does AMAZING in his crate.  After work hours, he gets more playtime with his foster siblings in the yard and lots of snuggles from his foster people.  He loves being outside if we are and playing with toys in the yard.

Hayden is timid at first but warms up quickly, especially if there are other pups around for him to follow the lead of.  He is still young so socialization will help in shaping his interactions and building confidence with people. He has met three kids (ages 2-7) and spent about an hour hanging out with them in the yard.  He was initially terrified and glued to foster mom's side but after 20 min or so of watching the other dogs play with the kids, he started to get curious.  He was still unsure of sudden movements but just ran away from them if he got startled. He is also very nervous with the neighbor kids yelling loudly and playing on the trampoline on the other side of the fence.  He doesn't bark but keeps a lot of distance from them in the yard.  He is doing better with this now that he has some time to observe that behavior but would probably do best with dog saavy kids that are a bit older who will give him the time and space he needs to settle in.

Hayden does great with other pups.  He is so excited to greet the other dogs in the morning that he can be a bit annoying to the other dogs but settles down once the excitement wears off.   Being able to watch the other dogs has really helped him settle into his new foster home and build some confidence.  He would do great with another pup in his forever home.  He has done well eating near the other pups and sharing toys with them.

He does have a kitty friend in his foster home and has been curious about him.  He is very interested in interacting and playing with the kitty.  He has responded well to swats from the kitty if he is too excited.  He would do fine with a cat as long as the cat and humans in the home are good about setting boundaries.

Hayden is a medium energy puppy.  He would do great with another pup to help get his energy out or as a solo doggo with a moderately active family.  He loves exploring in the yard and really loves playing with toys.  He also really enjoyed the trail when we took him for a hike after a few minutes to settle in. We are still working on leash skills.  He does great on leash when things are quiet but will stop/get nervous if he sees things he isn't too sure about (people, bikes, strollers).  Once he settles into a routine and gets more confident of his surroundings, this will likely improve but he would likely struggle in a busier downtown area, at least initially.

We haven't worked too much on obedience training just yet but he has picked up on 'sit" very quickly, especially if you are holding a piece of chicken or cheese.  Potty training has been going well as long as we keep him on a schedule and give him lots of chances to go out.

Hayden is still very much a puppy so we crate him when we leave the house and at bedtime. He is usually pretty good about chewing on toys but will occasionally find a shoe or the corner of the rug to munch on.  He has lots of toys in his crate so he doesn't mind hanging out in there when we can't directly supervise him.

Hayden is a sweet and sensitive guy. He will probably take a little bit to settle into his new home and will need continued socialization to help him build confidence, but he is so worth the time you will put in.  He is such a sweet and affectionate pup and is eager to start snuggling with his forever family!
