Updates

January 24, 2021 marks Harley’s official day!

PUDPATE 2

Harley now eats dry food as much as any dog does. He loves to play tug of war with old socks, or a piece of rope. Sometimes he will play-fight with socks and get so excited that he ends up spinning in circles!

PUPDATE 1

Harley is a wonderful, affectionate dog!  He will sleep in, under the covers, and will avoid going outdoors until he is made to go out. He likes company while outside right away in the morning. After coming inside following his morning piddle, he wants to cuddle up on a human's lap or next to a human (preferably under a blanket).

When Harley observes someone in the kitchen, he will jump up and go give puppy eyes trying to get a snack.

Thus far he has refused to eat dry food, and will only eat wet food if it is hand-fed to him. This little prince will gladly eat smoked turkey, cooked hamburger, rice, eggs cooked in olive oil, pumpkin, rice with butter, and will do his best to snatch any food out of my elderly mother's hand (for instance wolfing down one of her fig cookies that he had grabbed out of her hand). Harley is a funny guy!

He loves people and wants to cuddle up to faces. He likes to sleep in people's arms. Because of how he is willing to growl and nip at our cattle dog, and his penchant for chewing on people's toes, I would not recommend him for a family with small children.  Harley currently lives with kids ages 12 and 16 years old.

Harley has a medium energy level. If taken outside he'll sniff around the back yard and will go on a short walk on a leash, where he is very well behaved.

Cats are unknown for Harley. He is fine with other dogs as long as he can be the dominant dog.

We haven't really had to leave him fully alone; the most alone he has been is when we have had to confine him to a bedroom while potential caregivers are visiting my mother. He whines a little bit, and then goes to sleep on the bed.

He is an amazing, wonderful doggy and if we didn't have two dogs already we would seriously be thinking about adopting him ourselves!
