Adopted on April 4, 2021!

Grace likes to lay around in my home office with me during the day. She gets up to go outside when I offer. She freely roams the house during the day but spends most of it laying in the bed in the office. I think she is enjoying relaxing after having her puppies for the past 8 weeks.

Grace barks and howls when new people come in the house. She is not vocal when we are on a walk. She does not bother while she is outside in our backyard. It takes some time to settle her in the house, and this may be because our resident dogs are a bit obnoxious with visitors. She was also quite protective of her puppies. She does settle and prefers to stay right with her people.

She was good with my oldest granddaughter (6 yo), as she was with us from the time we brought Grace home, through birth of puppies and through raising the puppies. She was not fond of our grandson (3 yo), especially around her puppies and would growl. We did not encourage his visits while her puppies were young. She was okay with him this past weekend (her puppies are gone). She just laid around the house and ignored him.

Grace is a laid-back dog. She is low energy and sleeps/lays around most of the day. She likes to run in the backyard with our resident dogs. Grace wears a harness for walking on a leash and does well.

It took a few months for her to be active with our resident dogs. With coming into the home pregnant, and then having puppies and then raising puppies, she was protective. She warmed up to one of our dogs right away. Our female resident dog was not pleasant to Grace, so we kept them separated. She has been playing with both of our male dogs in the recent weeks without concern. She is submissive.  Grace does not have cats in her foster home.

When Grace is alone, she is left in a bedroom with her dog bed and some toys. She has been fine.

Grace will do best in a home with a female dominant owner. She prefers to be with me over anyone else in the house. She also is partial to my youngest son (14yrs). Grace loves to give us kisses and be with us. She is skittish around my husband unless he is giving treats and then she is very gentle and warm. Grace came up during snow and hates the cold, likely because she was so thin. She has been gaining weight. She had 10 beautiful puppies that she did fantastic with for 8 solid weeks. Her teats are still returning to normal state. She has been spayed. She is very loving and if we could have 4 dogs where we live, we would adopt her! She needs time to warm up to a new setting and build trust that she is going to be fed, loved and played with. She does have anxiety with new persons and at the vet. She is food driven for praise.
