Gizmo, or Gizzy, is a wonderful, mature dog. He's an awesome sleeper, usually from around 10PM until 6 or even 8AM. He tends to just keep on sleeping until his humans get him going. He does sleep in our rooms and on our beds. Then he is excited for his morning walk and his breakfast and water. He tends to enjoy being close to whichever humans are home for the day and will go on multiple walks. Since he is a pug, he cannot go on long walks, so we take him on a few short ones. He has dinner with the family around 6PM, then another walk and he is ready for another blissful night of sleep. He also does fine when left alone in the house. We let him free roam around the first floor and have had no issues.
Everyone who meets Gizmo, loves Gizmo, even some non-dog people have fallen in love with him. He is a pug, so he has the ugly cuteness that people just can't get enough of. He greets people with joy and his goofy grin and it melts their hearts. He shows no signs of aggression.
He has mostly been around teenage children in his foster home, but he grew up with small children.
Gizzy is a low to medium energy pup. Since he is a pug, exertion needs to be limited because pugs can easily get overheated, but he does still need his exercise. He loves his walks and does great on a leash. He will play with chew toys and does some chasing of toys. He loves to retrieve toys and then bang them into your leg to remind you he is still playing and expects your attention. Just pay attention to any throw pillows you may have. He tends to think they are his toys if left alone.
Gizzy's first family had another dog enter their lives and that dog did not get along with Gizzy so the family had to make a hard decision and surrender him. In our experience, Gizmo has done well with other dogs. He has met some dogs while in our foster care and did awesome with dogs who also do well with other dogs. He may struggle with dogs that are aggressive towards him.
Gizmo has had no exposure to cats.
Being a pug, Gizzy is a companion dog and he holds his humans accountable to be his companion. If we leave him, he will bark for a minute or two and then settle in to sleep or whatever dogs do when no one is around. When we return, he reminds us how great he is and how we need to be his companion because he is so cute.
Gizmo is an absolutely wonderful pug. If you do not know pugs, there is so much information on the internet to learn about them. He is ready for his rest-of-furever family to give him another great home.
