Freya is an approximately one-year old American Foxhound or Treeing Walker Coonhound Mix from Alabama. She was found as a stray on the side of the road eating a deer carcass and the person that saw her just said get over here and she jumped in their car and off they went! Now she's looking for the good life up here in Wisconsin.
Freya still acts a bit like a puppy but she's mostly grown out of that phase. She will trip over her own feet while running up the stairs when she gets going too fast. She will also gently mouth your hand when she wants to play. She has all her adult teeth so they aren't sharp and it doesn't hurt at all; it feels more like a tickle because she's so gentle.
Freya loves people and loves to give hugs. She will gently wrap her front paws around your arm and then just lean into you with her head to get in good snuggle and some pets. After a few seconds she's good and she'll go on her merry way and play with the other dogs.
Currently Freya is a medium energy dog. She can easily and happily go on a 1.25 mile daily walk but you'll need to be prepared to make some pit-stops for sniffing time. Hounds are athletes so she will need an owner that is willing to give her the exercise and the mental stimulation she needs. She would do great at scent training.
Freya loves all dogs that she's met and she just wants to play. She also lives with cats but has not seen them yet and she doesn't care about their scent or sounds at this point. More to come on cats once she sees them more. She doesn't care about squirrels in a tree so not a huge prey drive at this point in time.
Freya is quiet for a hound and only barks/bays when she sees her foster brothers playing and she wants to join.
Freya is one of the sweetest dogs you will meet. She's simply perfect.
