Flower found her forever family on April 29, 2021!
Meet Flower, named for the cute little skunk in Bambi. I am not sure if I have ever met a more appropriately named pup. She is very sweet and looks very delicate but as she has settled in, she has become more of a stinker. She loves to steal socks, bite the tulips (ironic really) and takes her sweet time coming in from outside when called. She is also a very playful and entertaining little pup that loves to snuggle by my feet on the ottoman when she gets sleepy. She has a ton of personality packed into a tiny 9 lb package and has been such a fun pup to have in our home.
Flower is a pretty typical, 2 month old puppy. She spends her days practicing crate training, playing with her foster siblings and emptying out the toy box. She loves meal times and will often try to share her foster sister's food bowl. She plays hard but really loves to snuggle near the humans as the evening winds down.
Flower acts shy initially but warms up quickly. She is more of a "stand back and watch at first" girl. She is slow to approach new people but warms up quickly, especially if the people give her space and sit at her level. She did meet three dog savvy kids (ages 2-7). She was shy at first and tried to hide but couldn't resist approaching once the girls were sitting on the ground just ignoring her. Continued socialization with kids would definitely help her settle in faster with them. She can be mouthy so would need to be supervised with any young kids until she learns those boundaries. She isn't a super snuggly pup but will allow cuddles once in a while, on her terms.
She currently has three other pups in her foster home; two adult dogs and another puppy about her same age. She plays mostly with the other puppy and they play like typical pups. She wants to be friends with the adult dogs but they are less interested. She does need some help remembering to give them some space when she gets excited. Overall she is pretty submissive with them and she does read the cues pretty well when they give her a correction.
She has two kitties in her foster home and is interested/wants to play with the cats. She isn't too overbearing and she does respond well to corrections from the cat but she will chase sometimes if the cat is running away. The cat is pretty tolerant especially because she is a fairly small pup. Based on my observations, I think she could live with a cat but would need supervised interaction and some correction from both felines and humans so she can learn those boundaries.
Flower is a medium energy pup. She does well with a few zips around the house with the other pups and some play time in the yard but settles in with toys or snuggles on the couch. Like a typical puppy, she is still working on leash skills and startles at various things around her. She does good in the car (crated) and does well potty training as long as she is let out on a schedule. .
Flower is crated when left alone. She is still a puppy and has tried chewing things like the corner of the rug, charging cords, pieces of stuff she finds on the floor, etc so she will need to be supervised. She has done really well in her crate and can be crated away from me while I work with breaks every three hours or so. Overnight she does sometimes still need a break but she does a good job of whining to let you know and settles back in quickly afterwards.
Flower has been a super fun pup to have in our home. She is sweet, entertaining and would be a great addition to just about any family.
